KORAT: Anyone live there?

Thanks G.

Please contact him for me. Just need rough monthly prices for the above. Prefer house if possible or apt no higher than 4 floors.

You know how big/small my current apt is, so nothing smaller. laugh.gif" border="0

I gather that places are cheap there. I have been through Korat quite a few tiems and have overnighted there three times. I really don't think it has got much going for it compared to some other places in the region such as Khon Kaen. But that is just a personal preference type thing.

Remember, the number of farangs and farang related places there is MUICH lower than Bangkok. I imagine one could get lonely there fairly quickly.

My lease on the apt in Soi 26 comes up for renewal soon and was thinking of a change of location.

Does anyone know of links to 3or4 bedroom apts or houses to rent in Korat?

Thanks Stick.

The responses here and offline are all negative so far.

So, what has Khon Kaen got going for it?

I just want clean air and (much) cheaper digs.

Khorat appeals to me for it's proximity to BKK, 50 mins and 1260B rtn to BKK as I listed above, should I get bored shitless.

Dogeater, Depends a little on your age group and point of reference. I've not lived in Khon Kean and while I enjoy it for a couple of days, well! after that I need good bookshops, Socialise with a few other urbane Thais or farangs of similar age group and or interests to me AND a choice of really good restaurants. Now you may say KK has at least the last, but nothing to compare with my favorites here. So for me at least, KK or Korat remain great places to visit but the Big Mango is the place to lIVE.

I agree with thge previous poster. Unless you really do find that you have close Thai (male) friends, most places in the Northeast may not be for you. If you have a family, then all is probably well but the clean air, cheaper price advantage that those places have is largely offset by the lack of a number of things including: other farangs, bookshops, cinemas, farang bars - basically anything that directly targets farangs. Unless you want to "go native", stick with the areas that are popular with farangs.

I was in Khorat for 3 days last year and there ain't a lot to do let me tell you that.

I was there to buy ceramics at the Dan Kwian pottery village (which is worth seeing). The ruins at nearby Phimai are a very interesting, but as regards nightlife - oh boy I was tucked up in bed with a good book at 10.30pm.
