It relieves them of any responsibility and the private hospitals can charge what they like. Americans are paying enormous sums for private health cover and if you haven't got it don't bother getting sick. Torneyboy I'm all for free enterprise and reward for effort but if you don't supply a safety net for the poor they'll come and take for themselves. I've heard this "NSW govt is a basket case" before.
