Steve
HAWIJA, Iraq - Nearly 6,000 Sunni Arab residents joined a security pact with American forces Wednesday in what U.S. officers described as a critical step in plugging the remaining escape routes for extremists flushed from former strongholds. The new alliance â?? called the single largest single volunteer mobilization since the war began â?? covers the "last gateway" for groups such as al-Qaida in Iraq seeking new havens in northern Iraq, U.S. military officials said. chuckwoww
Let's hope they get more now .. Right now it all depends on who gets control of the Kirkuk oilfields...Kurds or Sunni Arabs. Al Quaida and the insurgent groups will likely keep quiet and see what happens there. The promised Kirkuk census has been postponed again.

chuckwoww
Well Dubya understands the bottom line in Iraq is oil. Getting it out of Iraq and over to America is the problem. I think he finally figured out he's going to need Sunni cooperation in Kirkuk. Iran holds the cards in the South.
