I normally go to a restaurant in a hotel that is a higher class of hotel than I am staying at.

Is that so, a group of people from my home town were on a organised tour of Thailand a few years ago and the last week they were staying at the Dusit Pattaya. After eating at the buffet 2/3 of the group (in fact all the people who had eat chicken) were sick from salmonella poisoning so higher class hotel doesn't mean that you are safe.
