MooNoi
Simple piece of advice: Don't do it!! Vietnam in TET is a nightmare for travelling! Wait until it all dies down.
Robbie9god
Was thinking of spending 7 days there starting either the 15th or 22nd of feb. Will normality have returned by then?
unit731
Here, again, I am an expert. Yes, I have been in Vietnam during TET. It wasn't all that bad, well, except for the mortars ! OK, Ok, that was awhile ago . . .
Flashermac
Don't forget the 122 mm rockets ... The local villagers gave us some rice wine though and wished us well.
PP
Tet is a bit like Songkran here and normal service is usually resumed after a week so if you can delay your trip to 22nd Feb you shouldn't notice a thing. (Tet is 7th Feb) I'll be there from 2nd to 11th so should feel the full force of lack of transport options as I HAVE to travel to visit the in laws and then return to HN to fly back to LOS for work. Julian2
I was in Saigon during Tet a couple of years back and it was a marvelous experience. Having said that I was with a couple of other guys and we hired a full time translator/guide who organised a taxi for a daily rate. I doubt that the total cost of this was in excess of US$20 a day all up.

Hedonist
I was in Vietnam for Tet a few years ago. Traveled down from Hanoi to Saigon on the train. Very enjoyable. But the banks were shut for five days and the ATMs began to run out of cash!
Robbie9god
Gonna take a chance and fly into Hanoi on the 15th and stay a couple of nights before travelling South.Hopefully things should have quietened down and if not then I'll just have to join the party. Thanks guys
