I recall an Air Asia office at the airport (or was that at the old Don Muang??) where you could possibly have bought a ticket on the spot for that day's flight

Yes - same facility exists at Swampy Poo, with the Air Asia desk at the front of the departure hall. (i.e. Near the entrance from the roadway).

Bangkok Air was $125 online. Even though they appear to control the routes into and out of Siem Reap and Pattaya there is no direct flight.

Air Asia was $30 online but I have a defect in my thinking of Cambodia like Thailand. I expect to walk into the travel agencies and get quoted bottom dollar due to the bucket shops that fill Bangkok. Not so here in my experience.

Further Air Asia does not sell flights online within 24 hours of the flight. The travel agency quoted $96 and I held on the phone for 8 minutes trying to get through to an Air Asia agent so I quit that pursuit.

I should have booked it when I checked it last night.

I'm now looking at the reverse of my entry. Hired car or bus to Poi Pet via that damned road. Tuk Tuk to Aryan Prathet bus station and government bus into Pattaya. Hired car $10 or $6 for bus. I'm guess the Thai bus ticket will be 200B. I'm guessing travel time of 7-10 hours though when you consider that VIP bus to Penom Penh was 5 hours then the fight on top of that and transport back to Pattaya from BKK international .. it's not too bad for time.

Hopefully this time tomorrow nite I'll be sitting in a beer bar studiously looking for a GFE for a week of R&R on an island to be named.

BTW I found no P4P in Siem Reap. I didn't look that hard because I was spent after long days at Angor. In the Cambodia section someone had a trip report about student housing out by the airport but I never got around to it.

..... Mr Motoâ??s is not bad value, run by a wild kiwi Douglas ... only swimming pool in town.

If the new road and bridges are completed now, itâ??ll be a quick ride on to PP from KK.

Douglas could be a fun guy, but he made a lot of enemies in KKong!! He took on a partner (Brit) last summer and the partner bought him out as of last Nov/Dec. Moto bar is now more low-key; still has good food. I saw Douglas, briefly last Dec in Snooky; he's opened a small bar at the beach.

Road from KKong: as of last Dec. two of the four bridges are completed (the ones closest to KK and the furthest at SriAmbel). Center two still in progress with easy crossings by barge; likely both won't be completed until later this year. I'll know more when I again bike to Snooky next month, to avoid the overzealous drunken louts at Pattaya's Songkran.

Thanks for the update, Rookie.

Yes, I'm not surprised.

Once those 2 bridges are completed it will make the southern KK route the quickest road BKK to PP.

I'm off to Angeles to avoid Songkran this year. Maybe I'll try Snooky this time next year.

DDDave do you know if they're the same price at the airport as online? I got a much higher quote 24 hours prior to flight. It was not availability but rather price that deterred.

I made the route from Siem Reap to Pattaya via a shared taxi to Poi Pet again and a Thai bus further on. I had to wait a couple hours for the bus which was a downside with not much to do in the middle of Aranya Prathet except wait. The first bus was late and full. The ticket seller said 30 more minutes but it was only 5 for the next bus but it was also full. In typical Thai fashion they just decided to see how full they could get it and I rode from Aranya Prethet into Pattaya in the drivers cab with a guy from Iran and two pretty Thai ladies from Buriram and Udon. I couldn't have been happier. More comfortable, yes. Happier, no. It's exactly the reason I travel.

Found Honey Lodge in Pattaya and checked in. Honey Lodge is running 600 baht. It's clean and just off the entrance to walking street. The benefits are a pool and hot water. She looks a little old and worn but somehow that fits the character of her surroundings.

First night I crashed hard and woke the next at 4:30 AM. I have this problem being in an all night city and a body clock that rises at the crack of dawn. I tried a little sun by the pool to help reset the clock but crashed early last night too but made it to 6:30 AM this morning.

I dipped my toe a little yesterday into Walking Street. My whole trip is a comedy of errors with a little sabbai sabbai necessary to laugh over the rough parts.

I thought I'd hit a Beer Bar about 5PM but they were empty. The touts were out at Nui's Club 2 advertising 55 baht Tiger draft so I stepped in. I have a weakness for youth. There I said it. Every time it's the same. I walk in like a fish with a hook dangling from it's jaws and walk away with a less than optimal experience.

She was cute, flirty, 18. I paid the mamasan and we went upstairs for short time. Yes. Yes. I know I made a cardinal mistake not taking her away. You spend your time waiting for the knock on the door and pay more when you have an empty room just a couple blocks away.

It was pleasant but, can I be honest here, I have this thing with completing the act. It's not necessarily a matter or rigidity but perhaps more of insensitivity with the protection. I should have brought my own. I'm never satisfied without finishing but an hour frolicking with a naked 18 year old does have it's graces. Mai pen rai.

It was very much all business but I'm so damned introverted it was good move to do anything to break me out of my inhibitions. I thought I might check with the pharmacist and experiment with Cialis and see how it goes.

On the question front I thought to take my mongering in another direction. Can anyone recommend good blow job bars? I've found these satisfying in the past. One Cambodian girl was particularly memorable.

I also thought perhaps a massage place if anyone can recommend a joint. The taxi guys were quoting 1800 for soapie. As the 18 yr old would not perform bareback bj I thought the soapie might provide a bit more stimulation before the final act. I've never been to a soapie in many many trips to Thailand and I absolutely have to try it this time. From other threads here it sounds like Pattaya might be a bit cheaper than Bangkok.

I'm also going to try Hell or Eden, probably Eden to finish off my trip before flying home.

Also if anyone recommend beer bars with freelancers I'd appreciate it. I'm really looking for takeaway from Pattaya to an island for a week. I'm going to begin looking a little older and more experienced and hopefully find some Thai lady jai dee.

Whatever you do don't follow a taxi guy into an MP. He'll take you to a dump and take a big commission. The best is Sabai Dee opposite Big C on Second Road. The all-in cost is 1600 baht. Many girls insist on covered BJ. I believe there are BJ bars on Soi Post Office but why would you want one when you can pick up any girl in any beer bar or gogo and take her to your hotel? The ST street is soi 6. Bamboo Bar is a beer bar with freelancers, full of oldies so maybe up your street. It's opposite your hotel so you shouldn't have trouble finding it.

Thanks wonderlust.

I'll try Sabai Dee this afternoon. I understand it's best to get in before 8ish to avoid tour buses.

Not really looking for oldies just looking for more experience than 18. Eye candy has never produced good results for me. 25ish would be more on target. I thought I might try The Pier tonight as they seemed to have girls and many of the beer bars on Walking Street looked empty or staff.

I did catch the show at Angelwitch last night and I like the direction they're going. It was an erotic show not just the 'how many household applicance can you shove in your pussy' show. Angelwitch also had great music. I find more and more with the volumes of the tunes that the music mix plays a bigger part in where I'll plant my ass.

I'll try to report back on Sabai Dee and the beer bars as well.
