Sim Cards at the Airport

Recommended Posts

Ok its that time again to ask the usual questions re Sim Cards.

Haven't seen any discussion lately about sim cards.

Can they be bought in the airport and if so where ????

Which ones are giving the best value these days ????

Will be there in 12 days time.

Thanks for any help given.

This could well be in the wrong forum. Feel free to shift it. Thanks.

Most of the airport convenience stores and phone shops will have them but being the airport, I wouldn't be surprised if they are pretty stiffly marked-up. Just stop at any 7-11 and get a 1-2 call SIM, you'll pay about B200 and it will have a B50 credit.

If you top it up to B300, you'll be able to sign-up for a promotion rate of B3 1st, B1 each additional minute.

It should last most of your stay unless you're long winded.

I bought mine at the local 7-11 in Sukhumwit and the sim card was only 50 baht I think.

Airport definitely has a mark-up and you have to give them your passport details etc.

Wait until you get into town and just get it at the jet-sip et.

It's very easy at the airport--I got mine at the 7-11 or Family Mart. I think same prices as in town.I use DTAC (Happy)-- seems popular. The clerk even put it in & activated it for me.

Make sure your mobile works on Thai frequency. I have a quad band phone from NY & it works fine. If your phone doesn't woke there you can get a cheap Nokia for little more than 1000 Baht (probably more expensive at the airport). I've heard you can also pick up a cheap used phone.
