The party is over, you are usually physically and emotionally drained before you even get on the bloody plane and you have 'x' hours of sitting in close proximity to several hundred strangers in an air-conditioned tube. Personally, I like that 'x' figure to be as small as possible - the sooner we can relocate Brisbane to Broome, the better. In the OPs case, he should petition the US Govt to relocate Boston to the Pacific island of Guam - 23 hours flying time just became 3 hours, and you can throw away those Winter woolies.
