dean
I flew Chiang Mai to K.L. to Bali last year on air asia. Our flight, and I believe all flights, deplaned on the ground next to the terminal. We went through immigration, got out bags in 10 minutes time and then went to check in for the flight to Bali. Unfortunately, our flight was 90 minutes late and we were within 40 minutes of departure time and were not allowed to board. Hopefully, with 4 hours of time, you won't have any problem (the air asia agent at K.L. told me that the minimum connection time for air asia flights should be at least 3 hours and then the air asia agent will try to work with you on your "connecting"flight). There are plenty of resturants in the terminal.
Palatkik
Air Asia is often referred to as a point to point budget airline, so transit doesn't fit into their service plan?
