Henry should not have handled the ball but ultimately its the referee that has to be in the position to make the call. On a larger scale, Platini and Blatter for not having video replay.

It does not have to slow down play. They can take the good and exclude the bad from other sports to accomodate football.

Arsenal gets in the neck by fiat as its added to the Eduardo dive since Henry is associated with Arsenal.

I hope there is a replay. I feel badly for the Irish and think they have a right to be upset. However, I think they should be directing the brunt of their anger to Blatter, Platini and the referee.

Henry has admitted he handled the ball and therefore a CHEAT.

ban him from the World Cup if France are allowed to take part.

FIFA say they cannot take action but it has happened in the past.

"There is precedent for the invalidation of such results. In 2005, the bureau of the Fifa World Cup organising committee reached a decision to invalidate the result of a World Cup qualification match between Uzbekistan and Bahrain on the basis of a 'technical error by the referee of the match'.

Time to do right thing

The global fury over the Hand of Henry cruelly cheating the Republic of Ireland of its deserved place in the World Cup cannot be ignored by the blazers who run the beautiful game.

Supporters around the globe, including a significant number of French fans, believe the integrity of next summer's competition is stained by the shameful event in Paris.

The central role in the scandal of Thierry Henry - a man considered one of the fairest players ever - fuels the feeling of injustice.

Wednesday night's result must not be allowed to stand or football will be condemned as a contemptuous sport.

The ideal solution would be for the French football authorities to offer Ireland a replay.

And if the French FA refuses to do the decent thing, FIFA must step in and order a new game or transfer Les Bleus' air tickets to South Africa to the blameless Irish side.

The Hand of Henry is a wrong that can be put right

I don't think Henry needs to be banned. He admitted he handballed - what is the usual penalty for a handball? Free kick to the other side (if picked up during the game). Maybe miss one game (red card)?

Unlike Marradonna who just admitted a few years ago it wasn't got, it was him (duh!)

Doubt the ref in question will get a geurnsey in Sth Africa.

The Uzbek/Bahrain precedent looks the best outcome (replay) imo, but doesn't look like that will happen.
