I know, mate. I e-mailed Hunter's website months ago (maybe early july), before you and I corresponded, after I'd heard on another grapevine that he might be gigging in Asia. It's taken him months to reply. It wasn't because I didn't believe you! Don't get me wrong. jack
jitagawn
I ran into him once some years ago in BKK and we had a chat. He/we remembered some of the same people from aloooong time ago. Would love to see a show.
Mentors
today it is too much expensive for musicians like Ian Hunter to touring Asia. Same Wishbone Ash told some weeks ago about touring the US. The British group is thinking that this US tour is their last because the high costs of travelling. Mekong
Mentors, For this planned appearance the circumstances were slightly differant, is wasn't planned to be a full blown tour but a low key one off acoustic appearance for the Jesters Charity, limited to 250 people. The deal was that the flights accomidation and food would be provided, basically Ian came to Pattaya for a free holiday and played for one night for charity, it was being arranged by Casino Steel and Honest John Plain who appeared on his "Dirty Laundry" Album and still stay in close contact with him. It was a goer until June and then he said he would not be able to make it. In my original thread it was titled "Ian Hunter in Thailand ... Possibly" and I could not say too much at the time, the plan was to charge 2,000 THB a ticket which for the unique opportunity of having an audiance with Ian Hunter in an intimate setting, he would have spent all night in the bar chatting with customers signing aitographs etc, and rasing 500,000 THB towards the charity that many people would have jumped at the opportunity. We tried but we failed, see what hair brained idea we aim for next year.
Mentors
this is pity. But i liked the idea. Hope there will be another chance in the future, maybe with an other Dinosaur Musician.

gobbledonk
maybe with an other Dinosaur Musician. Apparently Gary Glitter has ruled out future tours of Thailand - he didnt get quite the reception he was hoping for ... PS this is not an endorsement of the man or his crimes - please keep flamethrowers on a low setting.
