Thaksin Shinawatra's ex-wife Khunying Potjaman has appealed her conviction by the Criminal Court on tax evasion and the three-year jail sentence that went with it

The appeal will contend that she is innocent in the case. The court found she had avoided paying taxes in a 10-year-old case, before Thaksin entered politics, of transfer of shares of the former Shin Computer and Communication company.

Weeraphat Srichaiya, her lawyer, said an appeal was submitted to the court and he was instructed by court officials Thursday to pick up a court form, as the court would now compile case documents to present to the Court of Appeals.

The Criminal Court's ruling sentenced Khunying Potjaman to three years in prison for knowingly providing faulty statements or evidence to avoid paying taxes of 546 million baht. Her stepbrother Banpot Damapong and personal secretary Kanjanapha were also sentenced to three and two years imprisonment respectively in the case.
