Flashermac
THE NATION 9 Apr 2009 Two injured when woman atacks protestors A woman wearing in yellow shirt crashed her Toyota Camry near a group of protesters in front of the Sisao Theves residence of Privy Council President Prem Tinsulanonda Thursday morning, injuring two people. Police said the woman sped her car from the First Infantry Division Intersection to the rally site in front of Prem's house at 7:20 am. Terrified Red Shirts ran for their lives, but the car struck a road sweeper and only one Red Shirt. The car quickly left the scene. The incident caused the Red Shirts to become furious and spread out to look for the woman. A group of Red Shirts thought the car had entered Suan Amporn Garden and tried to break into the compound to assault her, but guards insisted the gate was closed and no vehicle had come in. Red Shirt leaders announced that police had arrested the woman, prompting the Red Shirts to return to the protest site.
drogon
I am waiting the moment when things will go out of hands.... If nobody noticed: Until now the protesting mob is well controlled and follows orders. -> just as a comparison: Look at any recent mass protest in the west: There are always groups going for some action, no matter what the protest organizers said they wanted. Now, let's say some reds, yellows or whatever go uncontrolled -> I guess we would see violence on a grand scale... I am suprised that nobody tries, yet, to "light the fire" (read: agitators outside the main political movements who just want some chaos for whatever reaspn)....very easy now to "fake" an incident which inites the whole brewing mess... Flashermac
Hmmm ... the Red Shirt leaders PROMISED they wouldn't use taxis to block traffic. Bangkok Post says the Thaksinista leaders are talking about targeting the ASEAN Summit meeting in Pattaya. They really do want to get themselves attacked so they can play martyr. Wuddja bet Mr T is on the phone right now calling the shots.

Mentors
same as i said right above Red-shirt rally co-organiser Natthawut on Thursday said organiers were not involved in the decision to close traffic at Victory Monument. Natthawut said red-shirted taxi drivers closed down the traffic before informing him and other rally organisers. He also admitted that the red shirts led by Jakrapob Penkair have withdrawn from the Si Sao Thewes residence of chief royal adviser General Prem Tinsulanonda to Victory Monument. The red shirts have relocated the rally site because they fear the crackdown by police to open traffic at Victory Monument, he said. He said the red shirts could not abandon the taxi drivers even though they did not consent to closing down traffic. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/breakingnews/30100074/Natthawut-taxi-drivers-making-own-decision-to-clos

Flashermac
THE NATION (in Thinglish as usual) 9 Apr 2009 Lone woman confronts protesters near Victory Monument A woman driving Honda Jazz was thrown water at when she honked her horn against protesters and demanded police to remove taxis which blocked roads at the Victory Monument. The woman was struck on the road at the Tuek Chai Intersection at 4:27 pm and kept on honking the horn until a group of protesters came to surround her car. But the woman came out of the car and demanded police to clear the road, prompting the protesters to be angrier and gathered around her. Police had to tell the protesters to leave the woman alone but many shouted abusive words at her and threw water at her. Police asked the woman to make u-turn to the direction of the Si Ayuthaya Intersection instead.
