fire, general risk insurance for properties in Thailand

The sales lady comes to the house every year with the paperwork and to receive the payment.

I think the tee rak has been using AIG for a few years and I am not sure if they made an inspection, at least I have never seen an inspection or paperwork to list up the items in the house (number of rooms, sq. meters, etc) but that may have been done years ago.

4,000 baht does seem cheap. I was offered a policy by Siam Commercial Bank a couple of years ago of 28,000 baht for 3 years of coverage, which would cover the estimated value of my house at 4,000,000 baht for fire and flood but not against thief. I passed on nsurance at the time but if I rent out my house, I'll need to have it, and the contents, insured.

No, its in Chiang Mai (actually about 14 kilometers outside of C.M. near Bosang). If I included the contents of the house, the total would be between 5 and 5.5 million baht. I haven't looked very hard but will for the week I'll be there in March.
