Thaksin 'using different names'

By The Nation

The search of ex-premier Thaksin Shinwatra has been made more difficult because he has used different names while travelling, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said yesterday.

He said the name changes added to the problems of investigators, making it harder for the government to arrest Thaksin.

Reacting to Abhisit's remark, former Thai Rak Thai Party deputy secretary-general Dr Surapong Suebwonglee said the premier should ensure he had accurate information before making such a statement. He said it was extremely difficult for celebrities, especially former prime ministers, to use fake names on passports or visas. "The best way is to avoiding giving information, if you cannot supply correct information,'' he said.

Surapong is a real doctor - one of the nice guys in TRT, ec ICT Minister - at the time everyone said the worse - in hindsight the best.

He was also one of the communist students who went and hid in the jungles for a few years.

Now owns spa's of all things.

Those who joined the communists got a very rude awakening. They found themselves among uneducated Stalinist old farts, the kind that still rule Hanoi and Laos. The students by and large were rather naive idealists. They left the jungle as soon as they could when the government offered an amnesty. Most of them ended up studying with the imperialist running dogs in the United States.

Gee ... a writer attacking an editorial for not citing facts. An editorial is OPINION. It is not an academic research paper.

This is hardly The Nation "making things up". It's a matter of the editorial writer having a rant. That's what editorials are - including the the "thailandjumptheshark" blog. Otherwise, where are that writers own "facts"?
