The Laotian neighbor comes over, the guy says "so are you Chinese or Japanese?" the Lao guy replies "I am Laotion" the texan says "I know you crossed an ocean to get here, but are you Chinese or Japanese?" The Lao guy says "No, I Laotian, Laos its a country, near Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam...you know?" The Texan looks at him again and says "I see...so are you Chinese or Japanese...?"
