Flashermac
Back in the 1970s, when the communists were still a threat in Thailand, I used to use "Animal Farm" as external reading in class. It's still Orwell's classic ... best he ever wrote. I tried using "1984" once. The idiot Thai university students accused me of being a communist because I was using a "communist book". IT'S AN ANTI-COMMUNIST BOOK! Morons.
Julian2
Socialists do tend to write the best anti-totalitarian literature, which is probably why they are the first ones shot when fascists and Communists come to power.
Flashermac
During the 1968 Tet offensive, the commies rounded up and shot thousands of university students in Hue. I guess they figured the leftist students wouldn't go along with the silly old uneducated farts who ran the CP of Vietnam. (HCM had been a waiter.)
