Int'l Airport to Pattaya at 6pm

Hi Guys,

My flight arrives at Bangkok Int'l airport at 5:45pm.

Chances are I won't make the Bell Travel bus- their last bus to Pattaya goes at 6:00pm.

Does anyone know of a decent alternative, to get me to Pattaya at that time of day?

I know the price is 800 Baht to go from Pattaya to the airport, but is it the same price when you're going from the airport to Pattaya? That would be OK with me.

Any suggestions, anyone??

Thanks!!

About 1200 would be a decent price to go TO Pattaya for a taxi, from what I've read. May be able to negotiate lower now as it's low season and taxis would be happy to have any tourist in their car these days.

Buy some beer for the ride and make sure your sim card is working and you have around 90 minutes to set things up before you arrive.

A few alternatives are available. I would say that paying 1000 to 1200 baht for the ride from the airport to Pattaya is about normal. Coming back 800 is an easy fare to find. Ask if the toll charges are included or not.

From the airport you have Bus 389 leaving from 2 places, from the airport bus terminal and from near door 8 on the first floor. Same bus picks up at the bus station and then goes to the airport for more passengers. There is a kiosk at the airport and a window at the bus station for buying tickets for this bus.

This bus 389 can drop you off on Sukhumvit Road (Pattaya) and you can cross the highway to catch a baht bus to get to your hotel. When I was on this bus it stopped at North Pattaya and Central. Final stop is in Jomtien.

In a pinch, when you arrive at the airport after the last Pattaya bus but early enough to catch the bus from Ekamai - you can take a taxi to that bus terminal. Last bus from Ekamai leaves at 2300. Price of meter taxi to this Ekamai bus terminal, including surcharge, etc. should come to around 350 baht or so. Meter starts at 35 baht.

City bus to Sukhumvit Road (bus 552) leaving from the airport bus terminal is only 35 baht. Once you get to Sukhumvit On Nut Skytrain stop you hop on that rail service and get off at Ekamai. You take the free shuttle bus to the bus station, purchase your ticket. Sometimes this bus switches to a van - have exact change. Not unusual for this bus to take an hour plus you add in the time on the shuttle bus plus waiting a bit.

Good luck.
