USVirgin
I recall seeing a report that said while the US spends the most on foreign aid, on a per-capita basis we suck, whereas the Kiwis performed quite well. I wished they'd saved just a tad of that money and spent it on personal hygiene.
Nervous God
Bust Far different from you my regards to the truth, it's something i stand by. A verbal agreement is as good as blood for me. So leave it there.
bust
So aussies and kiwis are the number one contributors to the gravey train as well I guess.
Nervous God
Per capita probably, though the ability to help when poor is high lighted interestingly. The web site has the report, interesting reading. China and india did very poorly.
bust
I always think you tend to help your neighbours more. Tsunami was a good example. Over $100M sadly small amount made it there
MooNoi
Was reading in the paper the other day that based on a PER CAPITA amount in Australia we gave $118 per head on average to the Asian Tsunami appeal. In comparison the devestating Pakistani Floods have attracted a per capita donation rate of $4 per head. That's a disgrace IMO.
Nervous God
Hmm - not sure about that, a number of places I was at afterwards had houses etc built that the locals didn't want. I was down there with Meechai's people, The village leader had said all the "relief" money was corrupting the local economy and values. That's just how I saw it, I did see years later lots of money still not spent.
