LizardKing
Most good brands are, well, good. Make a list of your requirements: size, weight, what you need it to do, etc. Compare. Buy that one.

Redbaron
either whack em on disks (not recommended), email them to yourself and access them that way, usb sticks or external hard drives would be my prefference. If the guy at the computer shop is anygood he'll be able to transfer them for you. I'm sure others will have better ideas.
Guest lazyphil
why not onto disks, i know how to do that but its time consuming and was hoping for a better way, which you have suggested anyway.....'sticks' sounds a plan.
Redbaron
disks (as u say) would take a lot of time and in the end you're stuck with a heap of disks which you can't use, sticks would be a lot quicker - all depends on how many files and how big they are.. at least using sticks you can simply set up both computers next to each other and move them all across that way. Saves having the computer shop guy checking out your photos and stuff too (imagine trying to transfer all rusty's porn movies....) Sticks are pretty cheap too, just make sure the capacity is big enough to carry your biggest files (eg movies or games)
Guest lazyphil
yep, sounds the best way. can you wipe clean a stick and reload with data..........i dont even want to think about my itunes, just gives me a headache, lots of titting about
Redbaron
just had a brainwave but don't ask me how to do it. IF your old pc has bluetooth you could send the files that way wirelessly. If you're near STH he'd know how to do it.
Guest lazyphil
he's a bit far away, hmmmmm, has my pc got bluetooth, not sure, dont think so, but cant you enable some kind of bluetooth system?.....because this sounds the best idea!....thanks
LizardKing
BT slow. Buy a nice 16Gb stick (not so expensive and very handy) and do it that way. But RB is correct. Make the data xfer and setup a part of the deal when you buy. Negotiate hard! It really doesn't cost them anything because they have those guys on staff anyway. A high capacity stick is still worth having tho'.
