Guest Posted May 21, 2002 Report Share Posted May 21, 2002 Although Beijing - same as Shanghai and other cities with a similar attraction for tourists - are quite developed, the countryside can be much more difficult. There are places, of course, but you have to know where they are and how to find. Best to go there with a local. If you are on a business trip your host would even invite you if you show the slightest interest as it is a very normal part in the Chinese culture.
