They basically encourage people to vote as much as possible. No such crap as "one man, one vote". No, instead it is 4 Baht/vote and just enter the amount of votes you want to cast. The result of this is of course that not the most talented person wins, but the one who's family and friends spend the most money. Sad. Sanuk! I remember "beauty contests" at my university up north where each major would nominate a contestant. Then people would buy balloons to give to their favourite. Down here, the TV is full of ads for reality TV shows, and opportunities to vote for a winner. SMS or phone call at 50c a pop plus call/SMS charges - pretty much all competitions on TV down here have been like this for some years now, maybe over 10.
