Coss Posted November 10, 2011 Report Share Posted November 10, 2011 Well I'm dumber than a dumb thing. In Lao, MLG got me a USB SIm card thing to do the net on my laptop. The software provided, crashed, every time I attempted to use it, I checked the web and found that the provided software was it, the latest version from the UK fared no better. So I thought I would be confined to internet cafes, as copper wire Adsl is prohibitively expensive in Lao. I had noticed that the web on the iPhone in Lao, looked to be remarkable inexpensive, small amounts of data being used I guess. Back in Bkk I'd left the data setting on and it sucked up 300 bht in a day - not doing much. Whereas in Lao I'd not noticed any appreciable data use, money wise. So it dawned on me, I can use the "personal hotspot" feature on the iPhone, when in Lao. I just tested it in Bkk and it works, surprisingly fast, but here, in Bkk to go to the Thai360 board, to three pages, used 4 bht. So I'll be interested when back in Lao, what the cost is.
