WorldFun
http://www.pattayadailynews.com/en/2012/11/25/suspect-cop-involved-in-jet-ski-scam-of-iranians/ Two Iranian tourists notified police that they were threatened into paying 13,000 baht for minor damage to Jet Skis they had rented. A man claiming to be a police officer had acted as a translator during the dispute. But the Iranians now believe the man was not a policeman, but part of the scam to rip them off. Dexi
Motorcycle rentals could be another area for scams, although I`ve never heard any bad reports. Why don`t the jet ski victims just refuse to pay and walk away ?
WorldFun
well if u damage your rental do you expect to walk away without paying damage? the only issue is how much obviously is 13,000thb to much for a few scratches? probably so negotiate down to 1k or whatever & go rape a few girls to make up for it scot free
Wallenda
Motorcycle rentals could be another area for scams, although I`ve never heard any bad reports. Why don`t the jet ski victims just refuse to pay and walk away ? you're headed in a very wrong direction with this question. You need to google some of the many news stories done on this topic, it happens a lot. Phuket is another spot where this scam is operated. The way it works, the victims are always surrounded by a bunch of thug types, sometimes carrying weapons, and threatened. If they tried walking away, it would end up the same as if someone tried to leave a Soi Cowboy gogo refusing to pay a 13,000 baht tab.

sayjann
any wonder why i have nothing to do with jet-ski's or moto hire. it seems they are nothing but trouble and it seems many experienced travellers get caught.
