Dec 1 2013 V-Day Or Bloodbath?

Sort of like the Christmas Day truce of 1914 ...

p.s. I went to Immigration at Imperial World today. Can you say absolute chaos? They finally did get things moving after a while, and I got stamped. But before that it was like Thai Immigration meets Basil Fawlty. Furthermore, the place just happens to be next to the red shirt headquarters! Posters and flyers all over the place for the beloved Shinawatra family. The mall is a dump, everything sort of run down and neglected looking. Only a red shirt could love it.

Student network-led protesters rally at Royal Thai Police to demand actions over Ramkhamhaeng killings

Anti-government protesters led by Students and People's Network for Thailand's Reform (STR) rallied inside the compound of the Royal Thai Police Headquarters Wednesday.

They were allowed to enter the compound at 11:50 am. Their leaders submitted a letter to demand police to investigate and take actions related to the killings and injuries of Ramkhamhaeng University students during clashes with red-shirt protesters earlier this week.

After submitted the letter to Pol Major General Montri Yimyaem, head of negotiator team, the protesters left the compound at 1 pm.

Chuvit infuriates mob, gets plenty of attention

Chuvit Kamonvisit loves Thailand so much that he named his political party Rak Prathet Thai, but he's also deeply enamoured of the spotlight.

You might recall seeing him bobbing through the newsreels during the Great Flood of 2011. He recently joined the "whistleblowers" mob at the Asoke Skytrain station too, but this time he perhaps overstayed his welcome.

On Tuesday, just as the political temperature peaked when the anti-government gang stormed Government House, there was Chuvit, beaming at the cameras. At first some of the protesters paused long enough to get their pictures taken with him, but then co-ringleader Anchalee Paireerak accused him via loudspeaker of trying to "steal the scene", and Chuvit's erstwhile photo-mates backed away.

Someone threw a water bottle at him and things were about to get really nasty when the protest "guards" lunged in to extract Chuvit and pushed him into the safety of a car. Jeers of "Ai Chuvit aok pai!" - that old familiar tune "Get Out!" - rang in his ears as he was escorted away, both arms raised like a captured felon.

Chuvit was soon out of earshot but obviously spotted the diatribe continuing on the social media. The gist of the griping was that he's just another insincere politician who deserved what he got, and a faux hero who shows up as soon as the problem's solved. It was pointed out that he'd predicted Suthep Thaugsuban wouldn't get far trying to topple the Thaksin regime.

So Chuvit fired up his Facebook page, the amusingly titled "Chuvit I'm No 5", and declared, "I don't care how people judge me because I don't have such a good image anyway. I came from zero, so I have nothing to lose."

Plus, Anchalee was wrong to accuse him of trying to steal the show, he said. She misunderstood his intentions. "But I'm not mad at her because she's always onstage or in a speaker truck - she's not on the front lines." Someone nicknamed Por Mt added a morale-boosting comment: "Khun Chuvit, I did see you help everyone and every side. I believe some people see your goodness. Fight on!"

Chuvit followed up by posting pictures of him at various anti-government rallies. "I've done my duty and you can see it here," he wrote. "The other day I was at the Metropolitan Police Bureau, wearing a mask and covering my head with a damp cloth, while Khun Korn [Democrat MP Korn Chatikavanij] stood there, looking cool. I'm a normal person, and there are people who love me and hate me."

Chuvit admitted that he's not at the rallies to support bringing down the government. His aim instead is to help the people and help his country. "I'm Chuvit and I will go everywhere."

So now everyone's asking him to go to a certain spot in particular.
