cavanami
Just when you think Thailand is getting it together...BOOM! The boom was one transformer that blew up...shutting down the banks, all phone systems and the internet that relies on those phone systems. CAT, TOT, etc all down until 1030 this morning! Ever hear of redundancy? backup systems? generators?

Mekong
ermmm never heard of that ..... arai na? W You have been in Thailand too long and thinking like a Thai, bad habit to break. On any server you need a UPS (Uninteruptable Power Supply) as back up. Have you ever considered where electricity comes from?

Mekong
The sky! OK Flash you are technically correct when there is Cumulonimbus clouds forming and precipitation occurs it can cause an electric storm but it is only in a short burst not a continuous supply. Electricity is something 99.999% of the world takes for granted, flip the switch the light comes one, plug into socket and have power and the reason it happens is not magic, I am back in the Power Generation Game again after 25+ years in Oil & Gas, keeping the lights on in Vietnam so to speak.
