Mekong
This is somewhat of a non story even the IATA (International Air Travel Association) is defending both Thai and Bangkok Airways are subject IOSA (IATA Operational Saftey Audit) which shows both Airlines are in compliance with international safety standards. IATA are saying that the actions of Japan, Korea etc are unfair on Thai and Bankgok Airways since that comply with IOSA (which is FAA in USA) requirements and infringements are possibly (if proven) by some of the budget carriers. Stopping flights into another airspace has nothing to do with the operations of the airports from the country they embark from but compliance with strict IOSA standards which IATA are saying both Thai and Bangkok Airways are in full compliance with http://bangkokpost.com/news/transport/542023/iata-calls-restrictions-unfair
waerth
I read that story too. IATA is an organization by membership airlines for membership airlines though. ICAO is an independent agency. The story is .... Thais make promises to do something .... and then do not do it even when they are under scrutiny. Basically the Thais are saying the Japanese. We will make any agreement we want and then wipe our butts with the paper it was written on.
Mekong
Do some research, IATA is responsible for safety and was a forerunner of ICAO http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Air_Transport_Association http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Civil_Aviation_Organization Aircraft avoidance lights on tall buildings, painting of large stacks and towers on flight paths adjacent to airfields, letter sizing and lighting plants at Air Fields all comes under the remit of ICAO operational safety audits come under the remit of IATA
