Of all days 11-11 is the date of a Football World Cup Qualifying Match between England and Scotland which itself is the oldest international Football fixture in the world. FIFA have banned both teams from displaying a Poppy on the Shirt and have threatened to dock points if they do. Fortunately both the English and Scottish Football Associations have stood their ground and told FIFA to Fuck Off! The first game was in1872 which Pre-dates the Ashes by 5 years which took place in 1877. I was under the misconception that the worlds first ever international in any sport was the 1871 Scotland v England Rugby Match at Edinburgh but I was not only wrong but surprised by my findings.
