Flashermac
I discovered something by accident today, when I went for my regular checkup at Mission Hospital. I asked the American educated doc if he could recommend a place for eyeglasses. He suggested the eyeglass counter inside the hospital, which I'd seen before and figured was just for frames. Nope, turns out the cute little Sao Khon Kaen at the shop is a certified optometrist (or better). She took me upstairs to the ophthalmology section and ran the tests on my eyes. I tried the lenses she chose and they were fine. Then back downstairs to choose the frames. I picked a pair that looked nice and were plenty big for vision when driving. Total cost - 3500 baht. At that price, I'll see how they work, and if they're as good as they seem to be, I'll get another pair. That beats the price and matches the quality at any shops I've seen.
