Change the cable - normally works - but ensure you get the latest version of the HDMI cable.

Or maybe not - https://www.cnet.com/news/4k-hdmi-cables-are-nonsense/

In case you missed the previous tetralogy on HDMI cables, check out Why all HDMI cables are the same, Why all HDMI cables are the same, Part 2, Still more reasons why all HDMI cables are the same, and the HDMI Cable Buying Guide. - It's also worth mentioning there's a new version of HDMI that has come out since this article was first written, it's called HDMI 2.1, and I'll mention the details below.

Windows Laptop?

1/. Hold laptop up in strong light and peer into HDMI port, if no wasps nest or child's toy obstructs the port, shake vigorously, place on table, try HDMI port again.

2/. Reinstall operating system and all security updates since Windows 3.1, try HDMI port again.

3/. Call nice Windows tech support person in India, follow instructions, try HDMI port again.

4/. Open window (not the operating system), hurl laptop out of window (not the operating system), retrieve laptop from garden/street, try HDMI port again.

5/. Get a Mac.
