MooNoi
Hi Guys/Girls. Does anyone know where I can find the words to the Thai National Anthem written in English? I know its a tall order, but I would really like to find them somehow. Its part of a surprise for my GF, weird I know, but I would still like them. Any ideas, short of asking a Thai person which may take some time to write down. If I could download them from somewhere or someone has them and can email to me, that would be great. Cheers, Fly. Straycat
Hi! 'Thailand embraces in its bosom All people of Thai blood. Every inch of Thailand belongs to the Thais. It has long maintained its sovereignty because the Thais have always been united. The Thai people are peace-loving But the are no cowards at war. They shall allow no-one To rob them of their independence. Nor shall they suffer tyranny. All Thais are ready to give up Every drop of blood for the nation's Safety, freedom and progress.' Don't know about it's accuracy in translation. I picked it up from Sawasdee Thailand. Cheers, Straycat

Guest
Here's another English version translated from the Thai For Advanced Readers book, slightly more thorough in its translation: ============================================================= Thailand is founded on the blood and flesh Thai people share, Every portion of the land belongs to us, thus we must care; The reason why this country still exists is because the Thai people have long loved one another and been united. We Thai are peace-loving people but in time of war uncowardly, we'll fight to the bitter end, None is allowed to oppress and destroy our independence; To sacrifice every droplet of blood as a national offering, we are always ready, For the sake of our country's progress and victory, CHAIYO! ============================================================= Thai version: ============================================================= Prathet Thai ruam leuat neua chaht cheua Thai Pen pracha rat pa-tai korng Thai took suan Yoo dam-rong kong wai dai tang-muan Duay Thai luan mai rak samak-kee Thai nee rak sa-ngob dtaa teung rop mai klahd Aek-a-rahd ja mai hai krai kom kee Sa-la leuat took yaht pen chaht plee Ta-lerng prathet chaht Thai ta-wee mee-chai Cha-Yoh!! ============================================================== Cheers, FF
korsow
My impression is that the national anthem sounds a bit violent when they have so many beautiful things in the country to sing about. Korsow
