You are right the Aussies are a great side and we are not. Pretty good to make it last 11 days I suppose. How many English cricketers available for the final test, I reckon they'll be lucky to rustle up more than half a dozen.

On the plus side I spoke to an Aussie after the rugby test who assured me that really hurt. I gather the number of people supporting an Australian republic increases every time they beat us at sport and decreases when they lose.

Cricket losses, rare as they are, pain me far less than seeing our once indomitable Wallabies humbled in Europe. As Eddie Jones said 'We used to win the tight ones' : the team just seemed to show more desperation under Rod McQueen and John Eales - their ability to pull out a victory when all seemed lost was the stuff of legend. Exciting, running Rugby is what the crowds will come to Oz to see in 2003 - lets hope the Southern Hemishpere teams can give it to them !

Little Johnny was in his Kindergarten class

when the teacher asked the children what their

fathers did for a living. All the typical answers

came up - fireman, policeman, salesman.

Johnny was being uncharacteristically

quiet, and so the teacher asked him about his father.

"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off

all his clothes in front of other men."

The teacher hurriedly set the other children to work on some

colouring in and took little Johnny aside to ask him "Is that really

true about your father working in a gay strip club?"

"No," said Johnny, "he really plays test cricket for England but I

was too embarrassed to say."

Cheers
