jasmine
Hi, [color:"red"] So you generaly would not use loei twice, as a modifier, like you would 'mark mark'? My take is the word "loei" should not be used twice. Another thing is the word "loei" is used for more casual conversation. Khun GTG, is this in your experience? I normally do not use that word in conversation with my mother, however, I heard that word used by my mother to her grandchildren when she was irritated to emphasize some words, for example:"kii gierd jang loei" (Quite lazy). "Leow loei" sounds like the person, either encourages the driver to turn or so aggraviated as "Just turn here, ok?". Cheers!
jasmine
[color:"red"]"Chuay-duay" sounds much more fun in the context. That is the way to ask for help, I don't get what you said "more fun in the context", please explain, thanks. Jasmine
Guest
Says Goodthaigirl: > and can it mean a word on its own?< No, it's just a modifier. Can't it mean, on its own, "to pass by" or "to go past"? As in, "loei pai laew" : you've gone past it. (i.e., as a response to the question "where is the restaurant?") Goodthaigirl
Yes, I guess so. I forgot its other usage. Maybe there's more. Anyone think of anything else?
