Brink15
Tried the link but with most things in the news industry these things seem to be too often moved or deleted the next day. All I dot was a DNS error. Next time just cut and paste the article. Would have liked to have read it.

Guest
From article: "Surayudh also confirmed that three groups of overseas Muslim operatives had briefly taken refuge here. " Sensible? "Muslim operatives" would seem to imply persons associated with Muslim religious activites. "Terrorist operatives" or even "Islamic militants" would have been more accurate. Very sloppy reporting if you ask me, and nothing but third hand interpretations of hard facts.
chilli13
sorry about the URL mess??? here's the full article: URL to main site Asianews Kingdom a terror haven: CNN [The Nation] BANGKOK: Thailand may be committing the same mistake as Indonesia, which long denied the presence of a terrorist network within its borders, CNN reported yesterday. "Evidence is mounting that [Thailand] has unwittingly been playing a role for terror network operatives in Southeast Asia, and could at the very least be providing a safe haven for al-Qaeda," CNN reported yesterday on its website. CNN said al-Qaeda operative Fathur Roman Al-Ghozi was on his way to Thailand when he was arrested in the Philippines early this year. "Based on confidential intelligence documents obtained by CNN, Al-Ghozi told his Filipino interrogators al-Qaeda operatives were told to meet in Thailand to avoid a terror crackdown in neighbouring Singapore and Malaysia," it was reported yesterday. "Al-Ghozi never made it to that meeting, but another al-Qaeda operative did - Canadian-Kuwaiti Mohammed Mansour Jabarah," CNN said. An intelligence report from a Western nation confirmed Jabarah attended the meeting along with another man, Riduan Isamuddin, also known as Hambali, the operations chief for Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), al-Qaeda's network in the region. Intelligence sources told CNN Hambali sits on al-Qaeda's leadership council. It was in Thailand that Hambali announced a "plan to conduct small bombings in bars, cafes or nightclubs frequented by Westerners in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia", the report said. The government has consistently dismissed speculation that terrorist cells have been operating in Thailand. But in a recent Associated Press interview, Supreme Commander General Surayudh Chulanont admitted that security agencies have been keeping a close eye on several people with suspected links to Islamic terrorists. Surayudh also confirmed that three groups of overseas Muslim operatives had briefly taken refuge here. The Indonesian and Singaporean authorities have detained and arrested several alleged JI members, some in connection with the October 12 Bali blasts, and others for alleged roles in other terrorist attacks in the region. Meanwhile, a CIA document obtained by CNN confirms that "Hambali was located in Thailand and commented that he had one ton of explosives in Indonesia." Guest
according to some "confidential intelligence document" obtained by CNN some some guys with "suspected" links to terrornetworks met in thailand. and what's new about that? typical CNN bullshit - lots of words which say nothing and prove nothing. and that is called journalism?! ::
Brink15
Fly you really are hilarious. I do believe someone could make an off hand remark about a pile of cash being handed from your nemesis (who shall remain nameless for the politics rule) to some Saudi oil exec and you would believe it without a shred of fact as this fits your belief system. On the other hand if a bomb exploded on Soi Bangla in Phuket and the Thai government caught the al' Qaida bombers running away from the scene of the crime, you'd probably concluded that they were framed and that the bombing was just coincidental. And tell me Fly, in this global conspiracy against the oppressed masses, which news source do you choose to believe?
