Flashermac
Iran challenges Europe to hand over Holocaust 'proof' 6 Feb 06 2007 An Iranian government-sponsored body set up to probe the veracity of the Holocaust has challenged Europe to hand over documents about the mass slaughter of Jews in World War II. Mohammad Ali Ramin, the head of the "World Holocaust Foundation" created after Iran's controversial Holocaust conference last year, said Austria, Germany and Poland in particular should supply documents. "They should hand over the proof for the dossier on the organized massacre of Jews in Europe during World War II to the independent international fact-finding committee affiliated to this foundation," the IRNA state news agency quoted him as saying on Tuesday. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ordered the creation of the foundation after inviting a number of controversial revisionist Holocaust researchers to a conference in Tehran in December that caused an international outcry. Ahmadinejad has repeatedly questioned the scale of the Holocaust, described the mass killing of millions of Jews in World War II as a "myth" and also called for Israel to be "wiped from the map". The foreign researchers invited to the conference -- some of whom have criminal records at home -- gave papers claiming the Holocaust never happened on the scale assumed by the vast majority of historians. Mainstream historians specialising in the Third Reich counter there is ample documentary proof that around six million Jews were killed by the Nazis in World War II, although some estimates put the figure slightly higher or lower. The UN General Assembly last month unanimously approved a US-proposed resolution condemning denial of the Holocaust, in a move diplomats said was directly aimed at Iran's stance. dabbish
I've been to Auswitch. I was 13. I could never figure out how they could claim over 1 million people had been gased in that small room and later burnt with only two cremation ovens. It was later I started reading about it on the internet and it all made sense to me. I'm not trying to downplay what the nazis did. They did some horrible stuff and a lot of people did die in these concentration camp. But the claim that 6 million jews were exterminated is baseless. As the saying goes (atleast in sweden): The winners writes the history books.
Fidel
Hi Flasher. Have u got a source for that story? Just curious. This "Israel should be wiped off the map" bit keeps coming up, even though it is inaccurate. I believe that what he said was that the "Zionist regime should be erased from the page of time". There is a difference.
ChristianTroy
Historically it wasn't 6 million and Auschwitz wasn't the only one, it was the one with the most victims because it was closest to the german border, no jew was killed on german soil. here are the numbers * Auschwitz II: about 1,400,000 * Belzec: at least 436,000 * Chelmno:at least 152,000 * Majdanek: 235,000 * Sobibór: at least 170,000 * Treblinka: at least 800,000 * Jasenovac: 500,000-840,000 * Maly Trostenets: at least 60,
