Guest
The floor seems to be somewhere around B150 for Pantip and Sukhumvit vendors for DVD5. Regionally, the cheapest I've seen is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where it's as low as RM7 (US $1.75) for DVD5 and RM 13 ($3.30) for DVD9. Also wide selection but no porn in Malaysia (and wouldn't recommend trying to buy that there underground).
Old Hippie
"...If anyone else knows where I can buy British Classics from and other places to buy Simpsons DVD's, I would be most grateful..." I got the first season of the Simpsons at Phantip. Go up the escalaotor to the ...2nd floor? NOT the mezzanine, make a left, passed the food area, you'll see a store that sell Bhudda Amulets, right on the corner, the toilets are to the right. One of those tables has the Simpsons and many also have James Bond and a few other "British" movies I didn't recognize. If you don't see something you want, write it down and they can check for you. soongmak
Hi Ks, do these discs come also with the anamorphic transfer (i.e. enhanced for widescreen viewing)? I really hate the letterbox format as it looks totally fucked up on a widescreen tv if you want to see subtitles as well. Cheers, soongmak
khunsanuk
Hi, To be honest I have no idea. It does have some stuff on the cover saying there is a wide-screen format as well. Sanuk!
soongmak
Hi KS, Nevermind, I will check it out myself. However, if you're bored and want to check out whether your dvd's are anamorphic or not, you could set your dvd player in such a way that he thinks you have a widescreen tv instead of the standard 4:3 screen. Pop in a disc afterwards and when people on screen look thin, tall and anorexic, the disc is anamorphic! Anyway, I will check out the fortune hotel when I arrive at the end of may. BTW, let me know if there's anything I can bring for you. Cheers, soongmak
