  1. Hello Nasiadai, I can't remember exactly what I said, and can't be bothered at the moment to look it up, but I'd just clarify: I pay money to those who make everything good for me-- if it's not going well and I don't feel good about the girl once in my room, she's out the door - I really don't care much if we fuck or not, I'd rather have no sex than bad sex, and I can make more money more easily than time. I pick well (performance and attitude-wise - years of practice and lessons-learned). Wasting money, no problem; wasting time, cannot forgive. I sleep with no starfishes - if things are starting to seem like they will be a starfish experience, she is out the door (yes, with two or three thousand baht for her troubles) and I am on the phone with a regular that I know will perform, and will be knocking on my door within half an hour (maybe an hour... depending...). Absolutely, money will not ensure or even improve performance - but good performance deserves compensation. What woman/girl that I care for would I want to be getting fucked by customers for minimum wage? None - if I'm gonna do it, I should pay something I find soothes my conscience - and rewards good performance and commitment, and prompt arrival when called! YS
  2. Nasiadai, after your earlier moods and lack of optimism about the scene in Bangkok, it's good to see that you are having a good time, even to the point of colored fonts, bolding, and so on! As far as it being expensive - fine, good, I have money and I'm glad to give it away. Makes me feel less exploitative to be giving the girls a reasonable bit of cash, rather than Cambodian wages, for the good time that they provide is worth gold, for me. Look forward to my own next trip, but afraid not until February, at least.
  3. Yeah, but we purify it first - by flame...
  4. I'm also often in search of daytime fun, and you've basically hit all the good ones. Queen's Park Plaza is an old standby, but you really have to be committed to making a good time for yourself there, and be really lucky in terms of running into a very rare indeed hottie. But there are a few veterans who you might play some pool with - but shit, it's only the occasional lucky day that things work out there nowadays. In desperation, I've frequently relied on the several bars at the mouth of the soi, they're open early, even if talent is sparse. I'm usually amazed by soi 7 biergarten - amazed at the relentlessly poor quality of the offerings, and even more amazed that despite the lack of girls, the punters still outnumber the freelancers quite often. Bizarre. Soi 4 - an odd clientele, but that's probably your best bet for finding at least an average - okay, perhaps not average, but passable - girl, or near facsimile thereof. I bitch about it all, but still, I'd far prefer to spend my mornings over there, in the rain, than in the office or virtually anywhere else. Pattaya's about two hours away, of course.
  5. I see it's still alive a year later - or rather, the website is still up... I'm a bit shocked to see that one of the benefits is that you can get 15% off services from Dherakupt Law Firm -- isn't the point of carrying a $50,000 card that does nothing else at all for you, that you will never NEED a lawyer?! Just flash the card... call the service center... problem gone! Dherakupt Law Firm. What's wrong that they can't spell "Corrupt" correctly, I wonder?
  6. Re: the original story - what puzzles me is how Thailand could have beaten out even Turkey...
  7. Yeah - but at least Chernobyl has a tourism industry!
  8. As long as you're buying lady drinks at a steady pace, douchebag is not actually a crime. Stop spending money, and you'll find the statute of limitations lasts as long as your financial limitations remain in place...
  9. The Las Vegas-Bangkok-Cambodia trajectory seems almost inevitable...

Me, too. (Most of those criminals can be considered masters of their craft, at least. And had HUGE dicks.)

    No Brits

2,531 according to the table. But I would hardly consider the UN capable of producing these stats accurately, not by a long shot...
  12. Yeah, they say stuff like that - but the guy also probably kicked ass on the exam. I work regularly with FOS and find them very impressive, and have never yet encountered one that I could say was somehow not entitled to their post. Ambassadors, yes, but FSOs, no. And while they may exclude a number of people who seem on the surface to be very good, I know from my own experience that they do somehow have a sense for how to identify those who kick ass on their tests but have cracks that may eventually surface... hell, they kept me out, so kudos to them!
  13. Last words, whatever they were, delivered in a comically high-pitched voice, I presume. Of all the ways to go, you get a helium tank?
  14. And when you're Thailand, you don't even need to turn to China to get a conciliatory position from the US - Thailand has been doing US dirty work for so long, the US isn't about to press the democracy point too enthusiastically...
  15. Let's see if he's still committed to an animated version of Alice In Wonderland... and will be interesting to hear his explanation of how he ended up doing what he did - if there weren't administrative steps involved (visa, signing up for a tour, etc), I would best guess that it was at the end of a long evening - if not weekend - of serious partying, at which point someone came up with the ultimate dare: go to NK, tear up your passport, and see what happens...
  16. Hats off to the RPCVs, though. Many of them, at least!
  17. Ninewah would not be what it is today, but for the contributions of W. Patrick Murphy, one could say...
  18. Uh, low cost land redistribution to the poor? Definition of "populist", I believe. And since populism is presently verboten, I have to assume this will be a scheme to kick current squatters off the land and hand it over to powerful elites. As is usually the case with declared land distribution, anywhere...
  19. Yeah, final decision was to remain in the center of town - no need to alarm the girls by driving them out into the darkness in the middle of the night, or worrying about waking up the neighbors... Maybe someday.
  20. Leaving in four hours, arriving Bangkok 3 pm tomorrow afternoon - oh, Thailand how I love you, and look forward to your open-armed (and open palmed) welcome! Usual haunts, beware - YimSiam is on the prowl!
  21. Virtual the only truly impressive remains in Thailand are from the Khmer period (okay, okay - Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai are good, too), when Thais were under the yoke of foreign domination... Phanomrung being I think the best example, also Phreah Vihar... But yeah, shhhh...
  22. Banning hookahs, ridiculous. What about a bamboo waterpipe, Vietnam-style? Nanny state in control...
  23. Or - and this most of all - you choose to stay somewhere in Pattaya with a balcony,
