  1. Today's Bangkok Post had a photo at Phu Toey National Park, Dan Chang district of Suphan Buri. Looks like exactly what I'm looking for. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phu_Toei_National_Park
  2. According to the Post, Pattaya has about 2,000 hotels with 136,000 rooms. If I had to guess, I’d say half are whorehouses. So, good luck Pattaya. I'm no prude, but you're getting what you deserve. What is this ? Ok, he is a blogger - so his opinion of something he knows nothing about matters?
  3. Old school - Skype - started from the computer. Line - started from the phone. I use Skype 95% of the time, from desktop, tablet and iphone. 90% for chatting / 10% for voice/video calls. Line is used more as an alternative to texting.
  4. Looks like it has died - and the Android TV has taken over it's place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_TV
  5. Ease of use has to be the biggest factor. Turning on the TV and switching channels has worked without much effort in the past. Sports and News - both live and replays - these are the biggest reasons I keep TrueVisions. Ease of use is getting there for the "catch up tv" as I have heard them called. I have both the Apple TV and a Roku box - both work good for what they do. I looked into a Chromecast dongle - but that looked like it would just allow you to stream/view items from your phone or tablet to the TV. This can be done already with AppleTV (Ios devices) and the Roku allows for at Android devices to stream. The Android TV, especially if built in - would be an added device to play with.
  6. Any good places in Thailand to visit just for looking at the stars? Like this photo from The TAT - but they don't mention where it is! https://instagram.com/p/uzeG7TKr-6/ Khao Sok National Park. Chiang Dao Phra Chomklao Science Museum at Wah Kor in the adjacent Prachuap Khiri Khan Province
  7. Any one have gone on a cruise out of Laem Chabang? The Star Cruise website is not very informative - all I want to know is when cruises depart from Thailand. Don't really care about the destination too much. Just the adventure of being on board the cruise ship. Is there any others besides Star Cruises?
  8. So - how did it end up? Worth it? Anyone heard of MBK Guarantee company?
  9. Looking to buy either a new TV with built in Android TV. Or an external Android TV box. Any advice from the board? I see the top of the line Sony is available now - wonder how much this cost right now? 85 inch X Series BRAVIA 4K LED backlight / 3D TV http://www.sony.co.th/product/kd-85x9500b?site=hp_en_TH_i
  10. I think you meant - ไชโย Chaiyo Hooray! ; Cheers! (ไชโย is the Thai equivalent to the English "hip hip hooray!", which you can often hear at birthday toasts and other celebrations. The format is usually like: ไช...โย (chai...yo) ไช...โย (chai...yo) ไช ไช ไช...โย โย โย (chai chai chai...yo yo yo!)) http://www.thai2engl...ry/1294485.html
  11. Let's use a simple calculation: say 10K USD. 10K$ = 332,500 THB at 33.25 10K$ = 325,900 THB at 32.59 from this I see a 2% increase only. Even using the "best" for the last month from XE.com (32.04 - 33.43) USD/THB close:33.25570 low:32.04544 high:33.43746 10K$ = 334,374 THB at 33.43746 10K$ = 320,544 THB at 32.04544 That is still just 4.2% increase.
  12. KS - anyway to ignore any post that is replying to Bangkok Missy?
  13. Anyone know where to buy refurbished camera's. Nikon or Canon preferably. Looking at something like the Nikon D3300 / D5300 or the Canon EOS 700D.
  14. Suk Soi 6 looks like a Q House condo. http://newpattaya.com/bangkok/q-sukhumvit-6/ Ignore all the Pattaya references - they are talking about Bangkok Sukhumvit Soi 6.
  15. There is a SuperRich exchange at Asoke station - somewhere where you would need to go between Rutnin and MBK anyways.
  16. Dean - what do you mean by the "posted" rate? I would say normally in these types of informal exchanges, the middle of the two rates are used. So for example the rates at BKK bank on Friday:- so the informal exchange rate would be 32.38 x 5,000 = THB 161,900 Buy Rate 32.07 Sell Rate 32.69
  17. Interesting view - over now. Didn't see any of the "red" color - just a dark shadow. Great view - clear sky tonight.
  18. Nice one Flashermac - but not the same guy!
  19. Sorry if there was an earlier thread about this - I did search and could not find one. Anyways, a while back I was out at Fortune Mall and bought an Apple TV. Got it home and realized I didn't have an HDMI port in my TV, so it just sat in the box. Well, last night was in Big C and noticed a new Sony Bravia 32 inch LED tv on sale for 7,990 baht. So figured for the bedroom - it would be perfect. First - the TV is light as a feather - could not believe how light it was. No more metal in the TV, it is all plastic. But works - except could not figure out how to get th new Thai digital channels, but since that was not a priority for me - went straight to the Apple TV set up. A few required logins (wifi, apple id, turn on home sharing) and the TV is up and running. Now I need to figure out what I can do with it.
  20. Hmmm - didn't seem to work. Well, isn't that special! Worked on my quote of your post.
  21. You don't even have to request it and it started showing up - very unexpectedly I can say.
  22. Are you sure she doesn't need the name of the person sending, and the amount sent (either the original currency amount or the destination amount)? Just asking - wouldn't know!
  23. Do you need us to post a "Satire" notice before any more postings? Satire - a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and viceare held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule.
  24. Will take much more than that. Actually, I don't think anyone could take this law seriously.
