  1. When they bombed some university/school in Gaza - the Western press went nuts. Later it came out that some of the classes being taught were . . . . wait for it . . . "Bomb Making". Gotta love those university "students".
  2. Water table down dramatically. BUT: Let's change the subject to WELFARE. I was in Arizona awhile back. The "Valley" in and around Phoenix Arizona. All of the rivers are completely dry in the southern half of Arizona. Except some of the Colorado river. There are still bridges that go across the waterless rivers. And I see hundreds and hundreds of square miles of man made aqueducts. Man made nice concrete aqueducts full of water for the farmers. Water, water, everywhere in these aqueducts. And who paid for these hundreds and hundreds or square miles of aqueducts? Thanks to Barry Goldwater and his brother. The US taxpayer paid for all of these aqueducts. Talk about WELFARE. Don't read much or view the tele - and any mentions of "corporate" welfare. That WELFARE is fine. It's that old sick grandmother living in a trailer collecting a few dollars on food stamps. She is a "cheat". Corporate welfare is just fine and dandy.
  3. BUMP Oh, wait, this is the wrong section for a bump.
  4. And now some of those same politicians that are drooling to get the US back into Iraq with "boots on the ground" are denouncing this raid as "too dangerous". Huh? Yep. Those same fruitcakes hate anything that President Obama does. Even if it is what they want. By Gordon Lubold Wall Street Journal Updated May 16, 2015 4:19 p.m. ET WASHINGTON—A senior Islamic State leader was killed, and his wife captured, in a raid in eastern Syria by U.S. Special Operations forces, the first on-the-ground mission in that country targeting wanted extremists, defense officials said on Saturday The operation was conducted at Al-Amr, in the eastern region of Syria, to capture Abu Sayyaf and his wife, Umm Sayyaf, also thought to be part of the organization, Pentagon officials said.
  5. I experienced same here. Later in my career. I had some $sshole supervisor give me a bad review. For no reason. As I knew the rules better then he. So I met with the EEOC person. Then my reviews became excellent. Makes you wonder. Many don't have access to the EEOC and don't know much about it.
  6. Correct. The stated unemployment rate is a government statistic. That statistic is only good when comparing it to previous statistics gathered in the same way. So that number is apples to apples. Other unemployed are those that have given up looking and such. And is a higher number. And this has been true whether Democrat president or Republican president.
  7. How to spin the news your ideological way. Viewed Fox Business News on May 8. Stuart Varney of Fox News stated that this is terrible news. And of course, bad for Obama. "The U.S. economy added a solid 223,000 jobs in April, according to government data released Friday morning, a key sign that the labor market is regaining its footing after taking a slide earlier this year. The unemployment rate fell to 5.4 percent, a seven-year low. The latest numbers offer encouragement that the recent economic slowdown marks a temporary slip — one that is at least partly weather-related — rather than a sign of deeper problems. Both the jobs growth in April, as well as the tick down in the unemployment rate, was almost exactly in line market expectations." Source: Washington Post May 8, 2015
  8. There is a heck of a more story to this then just some freedom loving home schoolers. Or "unschoolers" as these children are called. Yes, adults have a right to live on the grid, off the grid, or on the streets. But when it comes to children there are other laws. By R.L. Stollar, HA Community Coordinator Have you seen the article going around entitled, “BREAKING: Police Seize 10 Children From Homeschool Family Because They’re Off-Grid The one about the “off-grid†homeschoolers, Joe and Nicole Naugler, whose children were allegedly stolen because of the family’s off-grid lifestyle? (Karen Campbell’s Relationship Homeschooling and HSLDA’s ParentalRights.org shared it today.) Please know that there is so much more to know about the Nauglers than meets the eye in this case: allegations of theft, illegal transportation, fleeing the law, threatening neighbors with death, child neglect, and more. Homeschoolers and unschoolers that actually know the family are cautioning people that this family is troubled.
  9. This is a mindset that is pervasive throughout the entire police in the USA. Some has to do with the militarization of the police forces after 9/11. With "free" money to purchase all of that gear and machines from you guessed it . . . military contractors. Again, I blame the leadership. The leadership in all of these police departments sets the tone. Sets policy. Provides training. And serious racism.
  10. Monday - April 27. Baltimore. Riots. The first store to be raided was a CVS Pharmacy. Got to get them "pills" for "free". All of this in Baltimore gives civil protest a bad name.
  11. And wait a little longer. That deficit will be blamed on public employees. Those pesky civil servants. And that pension fund - that they will attempt to raid. Further they will blame all on the public employees. Another Koch Brothers plan.
  12. I have a cardboard box at home. There is nothing in it. The box is empty. What should I do with the box? Is this the proper venue for such a question?
  13. Just about all types of clothing and furniture are now manufactured in Vietnam. Shoes, clothing, sofas, bedroom sets, etc. And with the stamp of Made in Vietnam. Interesting that these multinational corporations are choosing Vietnam over such places a Bangladesh, India, China, Indonesia, etc. Must be some really skilled and highly motivated workers in Vietnam.
  14. This is all a trick by the US Government. Get the general public all worked up about "unions". Let them banter away about union activity. Unions. Unions. Unions. That IS what the government wants to read here and all over the country. But the facts are quite clear as stated in the posting below. Don't be fooled ! “Elite forces from all four branches of the military will take part in Jade Helm 15 across seven states between July 15 and Sept. 15 – one of the largest such exercises ever undertaken.†“Some of the theories involve Walmart, which recently closed five stores in California, Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas due to what the retailer described as plumbing problems. Employees accused Walmart of closing stores with a history of union activism – but the Internet conspiracy theorists suspect the government may use tunnels between the shuttered stores to transport troops.†www.rawstory.com/.../walmart-closings
  15. I don't recall seeing an aquarium at the German Beer Bar. But much has changed since the old canvass roof was replaced with tin. There certainly was enough water at the bar during the rainy season with the old canvass roof.

    Hey Old Timers

OK, it is not just for old timers but . . . . Those who snore have a higher chance of Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Have you (old timers) been tested for sleep apnea? Or have you forget the question already?
  17. Here is the election candidates I wish to see for this election. Rand Paul versus Bernie Sanders. And this would clear up everything as to where all wish this country to head. Fruitcake salad versus Fruitcake salad.
  18. Hillary racks up endorsements - The Hill: "Ninety-three lawmakers have endorsed Hillary Clinton’s 2016 run for president, locking down nearly 40 percent of all Democrats in Congress, according to a survey by The Hill. Sixty-five House lawmakers, more than one-third of the 188 Democrats in the chamber, as well as 28 senators, more than 60 percent of the upper chamber’s 46 Democrats, are in the former secretary of State’s camp." [The Hill]
  19. These large corporations don't pay any income taxes because of highly paid lobbyists and these large corporations make donations to members of Congress. So what is wrong with that? Answer the question.
  20. Those that have Apple phones like them. Most smart phones are Android (Google) - and the apps are available at the Google Play Store. Windows phones are few and far between. And there are apps. But many selectively absent for many uses that Anddroid and Apple provide. With the introduction of Windows 10 - will be interesting if Windows phones expand past the 3% market share.
  21. Must be some liberal bastard running this company. Credit card processor Gravity Payments is making its minimum wage $70,000 a year, the New York Times reports. Founder Dan Price recently announced the ambitious plan to a room of about 120 staffers. The raises will take place over the next three years, with about 70 Gravity employees set to see fatter paychecks because of the new policy. Price himself is taking a pay cut from about $1 million to $70,000 to help make it happen. The reason: He read an article that more money for people who make less than $70,000 leads to increased happiness.
  22. 25 Reasons I respect the civil rights of all Americans, not just those I choose to agree with. I understand basic economics that consumer demand creates jobs, not tax breaks. I know that while mental health does play a part in gun violence, guns are still part of the problem. I understand that science isn’t some form of liberal magic trick. I know that women deserve the same rights in the workplace (and everywhere for that matter — see #1) as men. I know that racism isn’t natural, it’s a learned behavior — and skin color says nothing about the content of ones character. It doesn’t matter if John wants to marry Jane or Jake, it’s none of my business. I know Christianity is about hope, love and compassion—not fear, hate and judgement. When someone needs help, I ask “What can I do?†not “Why?†Health care is a right, not a privilege. Our ability to live healthier lives shouldn’t be determined by how much we can afford. I understand capitalism can create great things, but it can also destroy them without proper regulations and oversight. I don’t believe that “freedom of religion†means the freedom to force Christianity on every American. I believe diplomacy should be attempted before war. I understand the the government is extremely flawed—but it’s not the enemy. Our right to vote should be made easier, not more difficult. I believe being “pro-life†means supporting all life, not just a fetus before it’s born. Women should determine what they do with their own bodies, not the government. A higher education shouldn’t just be for those who can afford it. I believe in actual history, not the version I wished was real. I understand that we’re not all created equal and some of us need more help than others. I know that there are people who abuse our welfare programs, but that doesn’t make all people on welfare lazy moochers. I believe teachers, fire fighters and police officers are heroes–not overpaid government employees. I feel that unions protect workers rights, they don’t inhibit them. I know climate change is real, and it’s caused by man—not God’s wrath over legalizing same-sex marriage. I believe education is an asset, not a tool for liberal indoctrination. LINK
  23. Each state varies as to what a Sheriff is and what duties they carry out. In some states a sheriff only transports prisioners from jail/prison to court and back. With almost zero "police" duties. They do carry a side arm but that is it. In some states where there is no local town/city police - the sheriff does this - while in other states - the state police will carry out local police duties. In other states the sheriff is the police. And in one state that I know of - anyone can be appointed to deputy sheriff - with no duties other then a badge. A patronage position - unpaid unless called upon - which is never. It's the badge - a status symbol - and used for any minor speeding tickets.
  24. Yes, they stormed the trailer. But he was passed out drunk.
