  2. Well, the Donald has pissed off so many on both sides - one can't complain about media bias. Roger Ailes is a good friend of the Donald but Roger got pissed off too. Now, of course, Roger Ailes has been dismissed for sexual harassment allegations. A completely different story about right wing news.
  3. "CLINTON’S LEAD IN THE POLLS IS INCREASING - New polls from CNN,NBC/SurveyMonkey and YouGov/Economist confirm what initial post-convention polls indicated: Clinton is getting a fairly strong post-convention bump. YouGov/Economist has her up 3 points compared to last week, CNN swung from a 3-point Trump lead to a 9-point Clinton lead, and NBC/SurveyMonkey, which didn’t show a bounce for Trump at all, shows Clinton jumping from a 1-point lead to an 8-point lead. The HuffPost Pollster chart shows Trump’s convention bounce levelling off and Clinton taking an average 6-point lead, 47 percent to Trump’s 41 percent. Among polls with Gary Johnson included in the questions, Clinton’s average lead is 5 points, 42 percent to Trump’s 37 percent." Source: HuffPost
  4. I had one of my ATM cards eaten by the ATM machine right next to the bank branch office. Went inside and was told that it would take two weeks to get card back. Apparently, they do not have a key. So much for that card. I do take 3 ATM cards with me on every trip. Always a backup plan. Had one MasterCard eaten by a machine in Barcelona. Got that back the next morning (for a fee).

  13. The Washington Post issued a correction to both their initial story on March 29, explaining that they incorrectly reported "that 147 FBI agents had been detailed to the investigation" and that multiple U.S. law enforcement officials "have since told The Washington Post that figure is too high" and the actual number of "FBI personnel involved in the case is fewer than 50": "From 147 to “fewer than 50″ — that’s quite a drop! But if a subsequent report from NBC is correct, the Post is still selling itself short. The real number isn’t 147, and it isn’t fewer than 50. It is, NBC reports, twelve. "The key phrase, turning back to the Post’s correction, is this: “…according to a lawmaker briefed by FBI Director James B. Comey.†"That “lawmaker,†almost certainly, was a Republican. And if past is prologue, it was a Republican involved with the so-called Benghazi committee, The Washington Post joins other media outlets that have been forced to issue embarrassing corrections after publishing faulty claims on Clinton's emails based on anonymous sources. The New York Times issued two corrections on stories claiming Clinton was the subject of a "criminal probe," based in part on unnamed "Capitol Hill" sources. The media continues to scandalize Hillary Clinton during the FBI's probe, even though legal experts have repeatedly explained that Clinton is unlikely to face prosecution and have termed an indictment "ridiculous."

  15. I don't think that I have stayed at any bad hotels in Thailand. Chiang Mai, Hua Hinn, Pattaya, Phuket, Bangkok. Medium to budget hotels. And the Nana Hotel all I recall is the fine aroma of the beer I had in my hand and the sweet perfume of that exceptional young gal !

  18. Linguistics appears to be paramount for this ex-presidential candidate. He is counting on the counting of these words to somehow solve the world's problems. “Cruz began by comparing the number of references to “Jihad,†“Muslim,†and “Islam†found in the 9/11 commission report to the number found in several of the Obama administration’s intelligence and counterterrorism materials. “The word ‘jihad’ appears in that report 126 times, the world ‘Muslim’ appears in that report 145 times, the world ‘Islam’ appears in that report 322 times,†he said sternly. “And yet since that 9/11 commission report, different policies have come into effect. And as a matter of systematic policy, those terms are no longer allowed to be used in this administration.â€â€ LINK

  20. It was a full time job. Nights. Graveyard shift. A plant with about 200 employees. On the night shift. About 12 supervisors on night shift. Cigarettes. First they converted a room for the smokers. Not good enough for the 2d hand natsies. Then all smokers had to go outside. Not good enough for the 2nd hand natsies. As smokers smoked just outside the entry door. So then the plant constructed a 3 sided "bus stop" type of roof structure with bench seats. Out in the open. But near walkway from parking lot. Some still complained but nothing further was given to the 2nd hand natsies. Boring job. Over night shift. But allowed to sneak out for a quick cigarette. One cold winter night. I slip out of the plant to take a cigarette break at the designated "bus stop". A guy and a gal were standing talking. Two women were sitting and talking. I did not know any of them other then they worked at the plant/factory. The one guy leaves and goes back into the plant leaving me with the 3 women. It's around 02:00 AM. I sit at the far end of the bench and take my smoke break. There is silence after the other male leaves. The other 3 women are tired and just taking a break. Silence. I'm bored and tired. But decide to liven things up. So I speak up. Loud enough for all 3 to hear. I ask one question. "What do the four of us have in common?" Silence. Then one women speaks up and states that there is nothing that the four of us has in common. I pause but then add that there is one thing that all all four of us have in common. The 3 gals and myself. Again, no. We absolutely have nothing in common. Yes, there is I state. So finally, one of the woman state emphatically. "What is it that we all have in common?" I state quite clearly the following. "We are all wearing women's underwear." One woman promptly walks away in total disgust. And states so clearly. "That's disgusting." Another woman sits silently with amazement. A total blank look on her face. The 3d woman finally bursts out laughing. And we all go back to work. Each to their designated work station. I go back to my work station and begin to think that this joke may backfire. All those talks about sexual harassment and such. That I might get in trouble as being a "pervert" or something. And within 3 minutes of being back at my work station on the plant floor - I see one of the younger male supervisors (not mine) come furiously running over towards me. If one of those women complained I could maybe get into some serious trouble. This young male supervisor comes running over. In a huff. And state to me directly: Supervisor speaking to me: "I thought I was the only one wearing women's underwear in the plant." His words about himself. Of course he also is kidding. And tells me that one was the best one he has heard all year. Apparently my little verbal joke had spread like lightening across the plant floor. I turned around and viewed quite a few looking at me and pointing. A "pervert" amongst the "normal" folks who worked at the plant. If you have never worked at a plant/factory on the overnight shift then you can't really understand how boring work can be. That night there was a lot of mumbling, pointing, and woke right up. End.

  23. Pattaya. You have to spend at least one night at the Penthouse Hotel in Pattaya. It's a must. You will never forget this hotel. Very good location/distance from beaches and Walking Street. Pattaya has changed dramatically since my first visit. Lot's of new construction, hotels, and housing developments. Route Transportation. The Baht Buses - pickup trucks are a standard rate of 10 Baht. These have a standard route. No need to speak to driver. Just hop on. Press button when you want to get off. Pay driver after getting out. If you deviate from standard route the cost is more. The LEK Hotel in Pattaya has a large buffet breakfast open to all. All hotel prices vary by season. The LEK hotel old section is around 750 Baht. Centrally located on 2nd Road. My default hotel is the Bella Vista Hotel on Soi 7/8 at around 900 Baht. Nice English Pub next door. This area though can be quite loud at night. There are many hotels at all prices. Hua Hin huahinafterdark is a good source of local information. The Fresh Inn Hotel in Hua Hin is centrally located near beaches. About 1,700 Baht. Around corner is the Jed Pee Nong Hotel for about the same. There are many other hotels that have a lower cost nearby - that don't catch the internet coverage - but are fine hotels. If funds are not a factor then the Sofitel Hotel on the beach is the destination. Down the street from the Fresh Inn and Jed Pee Nong. Around 4,000 baht but I found the prices much lower as a walk in. Obviously depending on season. Hua Hin is a more family orientated destination but does have a dedicated night life.
