  1. Just goes to show how easy we can take things for granted.......nice story
  2. What before biblical times? They roamed amongst the dinasaurs did they?
  3. All I know is both groups lay claim to the area as far back as biblical times. The conflict in the area has been going on since the 1800's when the Ottomans were in control. The Israeli Palestinian conflict started when Israel was created in 1947. The current issue between Israel and Hamas rulers in Gaza started when Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007, An incredible amount of history and lessons to be learned from it all. And it ain't going to be resolved anytime soon.
  4. HOLLYWOOD, California - In a scandal that has stunned the world, the late Russell Johnson, known for his role as Professor Roy Hinkley on the popular sitcom Gilligan’s Island, has been identified as the infamous Zodiac Killer. Johnson died of kidney failure this past January. Notorious in the late 1960s and early 1970s for the grisly murders of at least 6 people and a slew of threatening letters to the San Francisco Chronicle, the serial killer has, until now, never been identified. According to detectives who have been on the case since it was reopened in March of 2007, “It’s no coincidence that the murders began in 1969, one year following the final episode of Gilligan’s Island. It’s obvious now, that between sporadic TV and film appearances, [Johnson] satisfied his sick obsession for fame by dominating headlines with his murderous activities. The man was literally hiding in plain sight.†Now, more than 40 years after narrowly escaping his own death at the hands of the Zodiac Killer, 60-year old Bryan Hartnell happened to be in the right place at the right time – the Cook Family Funeral Home in Bainbridge, Washington, at the exact moment Johnson’s remains arrived from the morgue. In the most bizarre coincidence of all, Bryan Hartnell was the embalmer assigned to prepare Johnson for his funeral. “It chilled me to the core,†said Hartnell. “Right away I knew I’d seen that face somewhere.†He immediately called the police. Agents notified Johnson’s wife of 32 years, Constance, who said tearfully in a recent statement, “His family would say that he was a little ‘funny’ after the war, but I always thought they meant he had a better sense of humor.†SWAT teams immediately surrounded his mansion and police tracked down Johnson’s daughter Kim for questioning. Johnson’s body was quickly exhumed for DNA testing. When compared to samples taken from letters allegedly sent by the Zodiac Killer in the late 60s, it was a positive match. According to handwriting expert Lloyd Cunningham, who’s worked on the Zodiac case for decades, the handwriting in the letters and Johnson’s autograph were also a perfect match. “The nail in the coffin,†said Zodiac expert Robert Greysmith, “was the fact that Johnson’s down-streak finally ended and he was busy at work shooting the miniseries Vanished between 1971 and 1972—precisely when the Zodiac stopped sending letters.†George Mueller, the Judge presiding over the case found Russell Johnson guilty of the crimes and sentenced him to 100 years in prison without parole. His body will be interred to the Washington State Penitentiary Cemetery to serve his sentence retroactively, and his acting credit will be removed from all future broadcasts of Gilligan’s Island reruns.
  5. As I said the 120 quota was not in a gogo but a bar along Soi4
  6. For the record the girls telling me about the 120 quota were not from gogos but beer bars along soi 4. But my understanding is it is across the board.
  7. Spellbound .... former Pretty Lady is about the only bar I found decent. At least the girls know how to have fun. The downside, like all the bars in bkk are the pesty ones pushing for drinks. I guess they have to when some bar owners are putting monthly quotas on the girls to achieve full salary. 120 lady drinks a month in some bars I am told.
  8. I believe I was drinking Angkor and Tiger
  9. Agree Frash about Dollhouse it is one of the few I will go in on Cowboy. Worst one in Soi 4 was buy me drink followed by and one for my sister and one for service girl and one for barman.......yeah right. Check bin
  10. Funny enough I had a great time....really enjoyed it. None of the "buy me drink" crap everywhere you turn like in BKK.
  11. The range is Soi 4 which is where I usually drink was 80 baht the lowest up to 130 baht (was told by someone else) in a normal beer bar GoGos generally 150-160 baht. But in Phnom Penh happy hour in one particular place was 2 for 1 of draught $1.00 ... so that's 50 cents a beer (15 baht) Pretty good value in my books. Will be re-thinking my travel plans in future.
  12. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes......utter crap  A Million Ways to Die in the West.....very very funny
  13. Happened a week ago and already forgotten about in the media. Though this hasn't. I was in BKK at the time and watched it on the news. http://www.sbs.com.au/cronullariots/
  14. Ok so how the fuck does this happen with the sister and boyfriend in the car? I only read the the story attached. I am sure there are many other details.
  15. Who puts a 13 year old girl on an overnight train by herself knowing the dangers?
  16. Anyway hope he get's his share of extra legs inside prison
  17. BANGKOK — Ivory items for sale in the Thai capital have more than doubled over the past 17 months, according to a monitoring group, despite a government pledge last year to put an end to the trade in a country where the elephant is revered. A survey by TRAFFIC, a wildlife trade monitoring network that samples more than 100 shops in Bangkok, shows that the number of ivory products found for sale rose from 5,865 in January 2013 to 14,512 in May this year. The network published its findings on Thursday in a report entitled “Polishing off the ivory: Surveys of Thailand’s ivory market.†Last year, then Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra pledged to outlaw any kind of ivory trade, but there has been no progress. Yingluck’s government became preoccupied from late 2013 with containing street protests. She was forced from office on May 7 and the military seized power in a coup on May 22. Its ruling council has moved quickly to set out new policies but has not addressed the ivory problem. “Thailand’s efforts to regulate local ivory markets have failed: It is time for authorities to face the facts—their nation’s ivory markets continue to be out of control,†Naomi Doak, TRAFFIC’s coordinator for the greater Mekong region, said in a statement. A ban on the international ivory trade has been in existence since 1989 but that has done little to deter poachers and traders. Thailand is the biggest unregulated ivory market in the world, according to the World Wildlife Fund. Thai law prohibits the sale of ivory from African elephants but legislation is often poorly enforced and NGOs say ivory from Africa and elsewhere is laundered through the country, often to China, the world’s top destination for illegal ivory. The Asian elephant is Thailand’s national animal but has long been hunted for its ivory and exploited for tourism. Thai nationals can buy ivory from elephants that have died of natural causes inside its borders but loopholes in the law mean that the ivory sold is often of dubious origin. http://www.irrawaddy...-end-trade.html
  18. I have been using these guys for years http://www.mastercarrental.com/en_main_ourlocation.php If you book in advance they will deliver to hotel and pickup when you are finished with it. Rates are a bit cheaper if I remember.
  19. Which is why the jury did not rely on the evidence of just one in making their decision.
  20. Seems like a sad story. Was recent I am guessing. So what I understood before was pretty much what happened?
