thai3
I don't know many thai singers compared to their number, so many of them. Fon say she love me when I see her last year, wow heaven na, but I think she only knows happy birthday and I love you in english, and it was not my birthday! I gave her a toy dog last time I saw her, think she liked it cos I know she love dog very much. Saw her at sala chalermkrung theatre which was an old style lukrung concert. There were lots of very famous lukrung singers who I had never heard of. I like modern lukrung singers like Olawi, but some of these were very old and not so good. Saw her again later that day at the Nok Noi M 150 tour when she sang with cha cha cha at 'rama 9 bridge'.There is a large open air concert area under rama nine bridge, the biggest thing of it's type I have seen in Bkk. 70 baht to get in and that included a bottle of M 150. If you can read thai there is a fon website and one for got, but cannot remember offhand. You can reach the Fon one through www.sure-audio.com .-peter
Guest
I got the VCD of the bird/jintara concert, and the DVD came two days ago, it has some extra things on it which are worth getting. There is a version of ma tamai set in a bang rajan type setting, quite funny and very well done. This is one of the most exciting concerts I have ever seen, must have been incredible to have been in the audience. Is it true Bird is 46 this year? I don't think I could get away with patting Jintara on the head like he does! - peter Where you buy DVD bird/Jintara i want to find this week
thai3
Luknok is a good comic actress like Apaporn, did you see them in Mon pleng luktung FM movie? great film but I wish they would release the film of the whole concert at the end. Somebody who used to post on the board (thi girl) told me she saw Sunaree and Apaporn at her work party in January. She thought Apaporn was very rude, she make me laugh, not a great singer though. -peter

thai3
' I don't think so Fon she said she love YOU maybe to many M 150? ' She did, and not same concert as M 150, maybe she was thinking of Monsit! Come to think of it Rung Suriya said that as well, these singers are such flirts. I ordered my DVD of the bird/jintara concert from www.thainetcity.com also can order magazine from there. I have found them the best, although there is www.thaimegamart.com and www.ethaicd.com -peter
gobbledonk
NTG / TB, What Thailand really needs is an all-girl rock'n'roll band ! Soaring guitar solos, pumping bass : all the good stuff. Thais seem to like their pop to be as sappy as possible, and thats probably why every song sounds the same to our ears (as opposed to the huge diversity of Kylie Minogue's material....). Not sure how well 'hard rock' would go down in Thailand, but it would definitely export well. Pat Benatar, eat your heart out
limbo
Hard rock goes down well in LOS. Lots of bands that play it. Your idea sounds really good to me Arty. Wouldn't it be Heart tho (remember them??)
gobbledonk
Wouldn't it be Heart tho (remember them??) Heart were OK - I was an adolescent at the time, so you can imagine my reaction to them A little ordinary in the lyric department though, and it always sounded like revved-up country tunes for mine. The thing about Benatar was that she had a fantastic vocal range, fronted a kickarse guitarist and solid bass section, and didnt feel the need to be Joan Jett (groan..) at any stage of her career. I saw her about 4 or 5 years ago here in Brissie - in her 40's, kids, whatever but still a fantastic performer. Awesome. The dynamics of all-girl bands seems to mandate that egos get in the way and they split after a short time. Even bands with female singers and 'serious' rockers manning the instruments dont last long. We had a band called the Baby Animals here in the early 90's, but they split up after about 2 albums. Suzi DeMarchi went to the states and married some other hard rocker - I guess its either that or run the risk of becoming a female Bon Scott - scary !
