Says Cyborg:

Thanks for all the nice comments guys
:D

Marius, who holds a uni degree ? you or her ?

Anyway, my gf works at a hotel at the moment and is very happy with that.

But in general, there are plenty of jobs in the hotel business for thai nationals, at least with a uni degrees.

Only problem is that if they don`t speak any norwegian they will have to work as maids ( which is not bad in any way )...

Thankfully, my gf is fluent in Norwegian now and that helps alot when looking for a job.

Why isn`t she in school now ( damn I sound like my dad ) ? How long has she been staying here ?

Send me an email if you would like to talk outside the board.

If you have the time, check out the story on NRK1 today at 21.30. Super story !

Thanks, I'll do just that. The NRK1 documentary thing was already on my schedule :)

Hi Cyborg,

Glad to hear your story, sounds like you two are hitting it off together.

However, if you will allow me a word of advice learnt the hard way after 10 years of marriage.

She`s made alot of friends her ( Thai one`s that is ) and they are a great bunch of girls.

What do you mean by that? A great bunch of girls? What do you really know about them?

Do they like to play cards for 36 hours in a row? Do they like to go out every weekend partying leaving the kids with whoever will accept them? Do they do drugs? Liquour? Any Casinos around?

I would advice you to find out exactly what kind of friends your GF associate. I did the mistake of letting the influence of my wife`s bad friends take over without realizing it until it was too late.

I am not saying they are bad or anything like that, obviously I have no clue. I am just saying take a good look. Your GF is more likely to listen to advice from her fellow countrymen than from anybody else. You should not underestimate the effect they could have on her. And if they are dealing out bad advice, well, you could be in for it.

Some of the things that she doesn`t understands about farangs is that people here don`t seem to have any respect for the King and our gouverment... She sees us to be some of the luckyest people of the world and that we should be more gratefull for all the things we have instead of bitching and moaning about taxes and such things
.

Well, I live in a monarchy as well, and I sure as Hell (pardon my french :)) don`t see why I should have any respect for the majesties. I had no saying in electing them, I was not asked whether I wanted to subsidize them or not with my taxes in fact I *have* to.

Contrary to the thai king who has done a lot of good to his people often out of his own pocket, the royalty we have are merely figureheads of an ancient system that only exists due to the number of tourists it attracts.

Concerning being gratefull etc. Yes, I am afraid that this is a less likeable feature of mankind. There is no such word as enough. I am sure even Bill Gates still wants a few things he cannot have.

Cheers

Yes Hua Nguu, there is a lot of stuff lurking around. All from the nice old Thai lady who lives next door, to the ones who do drugs and destroy their lives.

Everything is not clear either... One of my ex's best friends, I think she will end up dead. I have said so to my ex also. Why? Her hubby is abusive, has already got her into a stich in hospital where she has a tough time. Will he stop? She is a most lovely girl, and says he is changing now? She loves her son, and wants him to have his dad.

I think its hard to protect people. All who comes to farang land, have a choice what to do with their life. Its up to them. Those who choose gambling and fun? Maybe it was there already.

Sad, or happy or whatever....Mostly, there is more choices available for those Thai girls who come here than if they stayed at home.

Cheers!

You should respect the King of your country, i am sure he has done just as much good as the Thai King.

I am so happy to live in a country which never had any king :neener:

Hi SOTH

Yes, our queens has done well... for herself and her family.

And frankly I am not impressed and don`t comprehend how come I have to contribute to their extravagant lifestyle.

"Done as much good as the thai king"? I don`t think that a comparison between the thai king and europeans ones would be a fair comparison, as the thai king has real power whereas the europeans ones do not. Anyway it is my impression that they are mostly concerned about their own apanage on nothing much else.

Cheers

Hi,

[color:"red"] as the thai king has real power whereas the europeans ones do not.

I beg to differ on the Thai King has real power, he does not. What seems to be the power is the power of "love" that the people have for him. Did I understand your word "power" correctly? The King is under the law not above.

Cheers! :)

Unfortuantly my monarchy has lost the respect in the UK (and the old Empire) it once enjoyed, partly cos their a bunch of blood sucking cockroaches!!
