Sarisin
Last time I was in Panthip (several weeks ago) I bought software programs/games/VCDs/MP3/audio, etc for 100 B and 6 for 500 B. Mostly at shops on the 2nd floor in the back. The prices were fairly consistent. However, I was paying 6/750B for DVDs. Most were excellent quality, except a few had that dratted, "For Academy Consideration" crap showing up from time to time on screen. ::
soongmak
In Panthip you pay 100 baht for a DVD5 and 150 baht for the more expensive dual layer DVD9's. Porn DVD's go for 150 baht a piece. Some shops ask for 150 baht for dvd5 and 200 baht for dvd9, so it's best to ask first before you buy. some shops give you the sixth dvd for free. Cheers, soongmak

Straycat
Panthip I can get 125 per copy of PC software and PS2 games Really? I've never paid more than 100 baht per CD..but then I always go to the same hawker...lobby floor, a woman in the thirties...babbles a lot in Thai which I only understand a few words of...and she even throws in a few cd's free of charge if I buy many at one time. But, I always I thought 100 baht is the regular price!
ZMAN Z28
DVD5 doesnt hold as much information then DVD9. I think DVD5 holds about 4.7 gigabytes of info where DVD9 holds a little over 9 gigabytes of information. ZMAN

soongmak
The difference between dvd5 en dvd 9 is the amount of information you can store on it. A dvd 9 is a double layer dvd, while dvd5 is a single layer dvd. the double layer dvd can hold twice the information. Most of the original discs are dvd9 discs, because they hold so much information (movie and extra's), that it can not be fitted on a dvd5 disc. In theory it means that if you buy a dvd9 disc, you have a perfect copy of the original dvd with all the extra's while the dvd5 discs have to compromise on the quantity of information. This can mean that the dvd5 misses some of the extra's, or all, or movie quality isn't up to par. The few dvd5's that I bought, like Jackass the movie are all good quality though!
