Just this year I met a rocket scientist from America who was going to set up schools for the poor in Cambodia before PM Hun Sen demanded a bribe, which he simply would not stand for. So, he packed his bags and buggered off to Bangkok. I was talking to the altruistic, foul-mouthed, burping machine known as Mr. Rocket on Soi Cowboy. He told me he was not sweating it because he had been given a factory in Bangkok. "I'm going to design the first automobile to be produced in Singapore," he said leaning in with a whisper and glance over the shoulder. Is this a lie, or good fiction beginning??! I think he was embellishing.. but that's just me Being a bit of a hard nose for details I did the Bangkok test: Ask for concrete details and watch the story crumble like a bargirl's make-up job the morning after. When did you meet Hun Sen? He said a date a few weeks before... I asked where?? Phnom Penh... I then quietly nodded and pointed out that Hun Sen was at a regional meeting in Siem Reap that day, and that was even published in the newspaper. Ohhh, he just got the date wrong. A few hours later I waved as I passed out of Cowboy to our hero. I recall he got pissed when I took a picture of a girl standing near him "...oh, I can't have my photo taken..." sure dude, whatever...still my favorite is the guy in a bar, telling girls who didn't speak any English that he was the famous Dave Beckam og Man U fame!...classic...And who could forget the Foreign leginaires who hung out in Morning to night a few months back...? Porn again Steve is often "uncovered" as Michael jackson too. Who needs to pretend or deny anything in the LOS, the thais will recognize your famous self anyway ::!
