Thai customs are checking luggage more then before. If found with a Buddha head and without the proper documentation for exporting out of the country, you can be in serious trouble. Before removing from the country, you should get the proper paper work so you have at least a peace of mind. If you have questions regarding this, there are several signs at the airport that make the traveler aware of the situation and what is expected of them.

Hi lusty,

Just returned from LOS and bought several wooden buddha heads (golden) in Kata in Phuket at 400 bht. each. Dimensions 30 cm long 20 cm wide.

These buddha heads are considered purely ornamental and no problems exporting those. I have been checked once.

Cheers

Hua Nguu
