Old Hippie
Weekend market has a few shops that sell them. Also, Soi 5 Sukhumvit has a wood carving shop that has a few, pricy, but good quality.
liquidflux
Are there any customs issues when trying to take one of these out of the country?
Old Hippie
I believe so, but depends on size, material and style etc...rarely enforced, I never had a problem getting a Budda image out...
Lusty
Can't see a problem if you have a Thai woman with you with a return ticket!
Guest
Thai customs are checking luggage more then before. If found with a Buddha head and without the proper documentation for exporting out of the country, you can be in serious trouble. Before removing from the country, you should get the proper paper work so you have at least a peace of mind. If you have questions regarding this, there are several signs at the airport that make the traveler aware of the situation and what is expected of them. Pescator
Hi lusty, Just returned from LOS and bought several wooden buddha heads (golden) in Kata in Phuket at 400 bht. each. Dimensions 30 cm long 20 cm wide. These buddha heads are considered purely ornamental and no problems exporting those. I have been checked once. Cheers Hua Nguu
