gobbledonk Posted August 31, 2004 Report Share Posted August 31, 2004 The Austrian (she's actually Australian, but married an Austrian) who overtook our athlete to win the Woman's Triathlon was reportedly given $1 million by the Austrian government. Probably a fraction of what US gold medallists can expect to recoup from endorsements, but it would make the pain of training in a European Winter a lot easier to live with.
