stumpy
Hi, recently bought a video camcorder. Any software recommendations to allow me to upload/edit the videos on my computer? Thanks, SD.
BaronTT
I've used Pinnacle Studio for quite a while, and find it very easy to use. Results are very good too. Give it a try.
unit731
You did not mention what model camcorder. Nor what format. Most newer, but not all, camcorders are MiniDV format. And with a 1394 card in computer and the proper 1394 cord, you can load movies directly to computer. Any good software should allow you to edit, author, and burn a DVD, VCD, and SVCD. Note that there are two home DVD player formats. North America and the rest of the world. Good software will burn all disks/formats. Computer DVD drives come in DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW and more. Ulead DVD MovieFactory is good inexpensive software. InterVideo WinDVD Creator is real good. You can spend little money or a great deal of money. The more you spend the more the software does, but, mostly, the more complicated it gets to do.
..
Adobe Premiere works well too. One thing to remember when editing video: you need a bad-ass machine. A minimum of 2K MHz CPU, 512Mb RAM, 7200rpm ATA166 hard drive or you will not be happy with the results (skips and drops). Cheers, SD
Guest
don't forget the mucho many gigs of Hard drive space to park all this editing stuff, during and after the process. (saw my first 1 Terrabyte hard drive this week at my local shop) A video editors delight ........... oops ... and get a *good* video card.
