Guest
Now there is a great idea, a beer bar inside a barber shop........I presume that you meant the beer bar beside the barber shop... Cheap Charlies. Thanks for all the input guys couple of new places I don't know about. Please don't think that I am anti-scene I love this place, it's just that sometimes I would like a really quiet night out. uniformguy

bushpilot
The Landmark hotel has a very nice quiet bar. Comfy chairs and free wireless internet. Great place to chill on a hot afternoon.

Guest
Well I feel highly honoured ........ except that I wasn't really thinking about the youth of the country when I posted.....how loud is ninety decibels anyway. I will check out some of the places suggested but many do not pass the test as they have a TV or music...... but 'soft' music is perfectly acceptable like say Starbucks. thanks for the info and if there are any more venues let me know. uniformguy
lembeh
I sympathise. Its almost bloody impossible to find somewhere that has no "background noise" (and usually at painfully high levels). There is a nice quiet place in Dusit Thani hotel (think its the martini or champagne lounge), up above the main lounge. A few other hotel lounges have live musicians or pianists, which can be not too bad. -j-
