Khun_Kong
At my workplace, we have 6 openings available for teachers, starting May 3. Pay is about 55K baht/month, plus 40K bonus, plus flight bonus (17K), 8 weeks paid holiday and Thai holidays (13? 16?). School is right next to Surasak BTS station. The openings are in the English Immersion Program, which means the students (Thai boys) receive ALL of their education in English, except for Thai social studies and Buddhist studies. The best candidates will have a university degree in something! Work permit, visa etc. all provided. This is an above board, bona fide establishment. Openings are: Prathom (elementary): 1st grade teacher, 3rd grade math/science and somebody with a specialty in ESL Mathayom (secondary): grade 8 mathematics or IT person, grade 7-11 physical education and grade 8 English (not English language, but English as taught in the West, with literature, novel, writing, etc.) BTW, it's not as if half the staff has quit. We have about 250 teachers, about 40 of whom are Farang. Big place. Post or PM if interested. This is a pretty cushy position for someone who wants to work, but not too hard! BTW2: there are now 2 or 3 np.com guys working there!

Guest
What's the contract length? Is the flight bonus intended to cover a one-way ticket there? (Sorry if naive questions, but have never been in the TESL game. Have two college degrees and recurring thoughts of trying to relocate to BKK after numerous trips there). Contract length is 1 year, with a 20K baht penalty if you leave without giving 90 days notice. One year means you get the 8 weeks paid holiday, about 4 in April 3 in October, 1 at Xmess. The "flight bonus" is 17,000 baht, is given in cash and is not intended to be anything other than just that! BTW, it is NOT included in the regular pay (taxed) stub, but given as an envelope of dough. Congrats on the job, Ultra. Congrats to you too, MadMax! Flashermac
Only the top international schools (ISB, Harrow, Ruamruedee) pay your air fare ... and that's if you are hired outside of Thailand. But some schools will pay a one-way fare at the end of your 12 month contract. The govmt universities call it a gratuity, but it amounts to the same thing. If you are a certified teacher at home (US, UK or wherever), try the international schools. Harrow pays 90 K a month plus housing, Ruamruedee probably close to that. Get hired in Thailand, however, and you may get far less! (Not just double pricing here ... but double salaries.)
